On IDF, there was a post about someone who had something to do with Katharine's website & they said there will be a fan club on KatharineMcPhee.com I wonder why it isn't there when they've finally launched the site. I'm thinking they're probably going to add it after the album is released or something.

What exactly is the fan club? Is it like a blog section like on Myspace?

Isn't that what we filled out the form at KMP.com for a long time ago? First, to get kept in the loop on whatever was going on, and eventually to become part of whatever kind of fan group they started? The info seems to come from everywhere else first so far, but eventually i assume they will get it together. But frankly I don't see a lot of charm in being part of a sea of four million fans if there aren't some mighty big perks, esp. as there are pervasive rumors of having to pay to join. An environment like this suits me much better.

I agree, groucho. I like our close-knit group here and there's always the latest news and pics posted. "Official" fanclubs always seem so corporate and impersonal to me.

When I got the email about Kat's Christmas gift to her fans, there was something in the email that the official site would be setting up a KAtharineLounge and that it would be coming out sometime around the time the album would be released, so it is a possibility. I agree with both of you that this is a great environment, and i'm happy with just KMF!

^The fanclub will be called KLounge--and Kat's site already listed off what the fanclub will have. From what they say, it'll operate very similar to how other fanclubs are run...though hopefully better when it comes to price and organization. Many fanclubs have some cool contests and things (winning M&G's being the best contests), but ultimately have extreme disorganization or just plain old reneging on promises for rare pictures, etc. I think Kat will work hard to make sure it's the best it can be. After all, it'll likely be around $30 for a year membership as many usually are. I'm hoping it'll be a little less so some won't recoil at the high price. I don't know if that's possible, however, because they have to make a profit on losses from shipping and handling charges sending stuff to you. The McInternationals may have to pay double the U.S. fee because of international shipping charges. The "welcoming gift" alone will likely come to $5 shipping for each member in the U.S.

I frankly can't wait until the thing finally opens...whenever that will be. The only reservation I have about it is that RCA is starting a message board. I'm hoping it'll just be for paying fanclub members to prevent random intruders from coming in. And you know they will if it's an openly public board. If it's a public board, RCA is definitely naive and needs to do some research on what happened over at the 'AI' board last spring and summer.

If there's a board just at the club setting, then it'll make KMF even more interesting. We can come here and discuss what's going on over there, etc., rather than having to consolidate every single thought on one board. The fanclub board would just be like the comment section is at Kat's MySpace: An occasional place to leave a comment once in a while. I think Kat still reads us here at KMF when she gets the chance--so it still makes this great site relevant no matter what happens.

it will be great having kat at #1 in the billboards albums chart for many many weeks!!!!  taylor pick #2 but who cares about  that !!

I wonder if anyone knows how many kat-related sites, groups, forums, etc. there are out there right now? There just isn't enough time in the day to keep track of it all. Each site seems to have its own character, and people gravitate to whatever suits them best. There are some very good sites out there, but I find I have very little desire to settle down and post regularly in most other places. Some of them seem like they'll be so vast they'll swallow me up in the crush. Others are just really wild and woolly, with an anything-goes, caustic edge that makes them great fun to visit but I'm not sure I could live there. I find KMF to be interesting, informative, and plenty lively enough for me. I'm glad it's here to serve as Home Base.

She has "Over It" playing in the background and her bio up over at the " official site", and a countdown to the CD release. But it's changed since I went there last week. Nothing else is up yet, except for a cool silhouette photo I hadn't seen before. I'll always stay true to this site. It's always been my main source of info about our Kat. I don't go to any other sites. but I will join her site when it becomes full blown. Anything Kat wants from me, she'll get!

yay..but i like KMF. do u think KLounge will be big w/ the fans? im sure everyone will join...but will they have stuff for us to do there?

So far the information and heads-ups we get here seems more accurate than the official site. But like I said, mostly I just feel at home here.

i love this site too... but of course i'll pay the $ for the membership! I need to learn to control my spending, but when it comes to Katharine, $30 isn't really that much...

I am exciting about this Fan club just as much as anybody but I also don't like the fact that you have to pay to become a member, to me that just seems a little ridiculous. Now if the fan club will have contests as Greg said, to like win M&Gs then I suppose I can make an exception to pay money. No matter how many fan clubs there are out there, Like everyone else said, This will be my place to get the Katharine news, updates, videos and gossip. KMF is the place where I get my Katharine fix lol and I'll probably never leave.

Wow, I was just reading all the comments about the official fan club. Yes, it is supposed to launch late January with the release of her album, and it's called K Lounge. It will be part of the official fansite at katharinemcphee.com and will include a yearly membership fee that will provide exclusives to the members. That may contain exclusive photos and video downloads, live chats with Katharine, etc. There should be lots of stuff going on! Any "official" fan club had to be filtered through her label, and so we couldn't call it the Kat Pack, though it was definitely discussed! So stay tuned for K Lounge, and the plan is for Katharine to be very active in it!

How bout the International Phans if We have to pay? Aaaargh.. Sam! I Love You Too.. You're right.. No place Like KMF...

I was wondering about that too Collette... I'll definitely want to pay it, I hope there's gonna be a way. =)
