2 seemingly legit websites are reporting the release date for Kat's new CD is September 22nd!

 

Katharine McPhee was dropped from RCA in 2008, and has now signed to Verve Records. Her sophomore album, which is currently untitled, will be released September 22nd.

We're frankly a little curious about what former American Idol finalist Katharine McPhee's September 22 Verve label debut will sound like. We do know that after a disappointing contemporary dance/pop debut album a couple of years back, McPhee is looking for a more mature mainstream approach with her new jazz/adult label home and has been working with some fine songwriters like Lucie Silvas on choosing the right mix of songs.

I've heard of Lucie Silvas! She's English or Dutch, and has had success as a singer in Europe. In fact, I might have posted this video of her before here  (singing Burt Bacharach's "The Look of Love"):

Much earlier than I expected, and a fine time to builld momentum thriugh the holiday season.

Can't wait this will be amazing.I just love her first album.

One nice thing about the timing is that the album will be out while American Idol Rewind will be airing Kat's season, so the record label could advertise the new album to everyone who remembered and liked Kat from AI, but may not have been keeping track of her activities since then.

Woohoo! That is very exciting.

And good point about the Rewind connection. I asked her if she had done any interviews since Mandisa said she and Kellie have. But Kat answered a different part of that email. I have to remember to keep them extremely short and on a single subject.
