When the tour stops off at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, it will be Kat's homecoming concert.  The concert date is August 26.

I am sure all of you would like to see her have the best homecoming that an American Idol has ever gotten.  

I wanted to see what kind of interest that everyone has in buying enough orange glowsticks for every single person attending the concert in LA.   I have talked to Peisha about this and she is excited about the idea. 

The capacity of the Staples Center is 20,000 or so.  I am in talks with a company who distributes glow sticks out of North Hollywood.  I am trying to get special pricing, but until we work those details out, the 6" glowsticks are 34 cents a piece.  I am going to try for at least free shipping.

They are that cheap if we can manage to purchase 10,000+.  That would mean $3,400.  20,000 is still 34 cents a piece = $6,800. (100 glowsticks = $34.)   I would hope Kat's fan base is large enough to come up with that much.  These are NOT the KatharineFans.com glowsticks for sale at top of the page.

It costs $220 to ship 10,000 glowsticks.  10,000 glowsticks is 18 boxes at 43lbs each.

The company is in North Hollywood, so if we had people who are going to the concert that wouldn't mind picking up the glowsticks, it would save money.   I understand that 18 boxes at 43lbs a piece is a LOT of weight.  

The third major hurdle is distribution.  We would need people to get to the Staples Center early to hand out the glowsticks to everyone who is going to the concert.  I have heard that fan groups have done this before outside of the arenas, so it shouldn't be a problem.

 I am sure all of you would love to see Kat come out for her performance, and see her OMG face when 20,000 glowsticks are lit up just for her.  

I don't want to do this half way, so I really need feedback on if you think we can come up with at least $3400 for 10,000 glowsticks.  It just wouldn't be as cool if we can only manage 1000 or 3000. 

Actually we only need 9500, because I am buying the first 500.  So if we can get pledges for X amount of glowsticks, volunteers for helping get the glowsticks to Staples Center, and volunteers for giving them out, we would appreciate it.  Money will be handled through Paypal.  You will not need a Paypal account to donate. If you do not feel comfortable making transactions over the internet, please email me and I will provide an address to send a check.

If anyone has other suggestions, I am all ears.  

I need to get feedback on this by Saturday, August 5.  If it looks like we can do it, we will collect money for 2 weeks.  Then order and ship in 1 week.

Do we have any info on dealing with venue officials?  Are they ok with people handing out stuff at the entrances?

handing them out when the people are lined up outside the arena waiting to go inside shouldn't be a probem
I know when I went to the A.I. show in July, when I was waiting outside on line there were people handing out fliers to us and then a radio station was handing out bumper stickers.

I would love to participate but how do we keep people from using the glow sticks for other idols and if they use them from the start of the concert will they still be good by the time Kat comes on in the second half of the show?

^You can't keep people from using them for other idols,but they WILL be orange, so it will be Kat's colors. They will last 6+ hours, so it will last the entire concert. I am also goin to ask anyone who helps give out the glowsticks to tell them it is for Kat. It is up to them to do it. I think most will.
