well looks like i love for my contestants to be runner up...so after 8 seasons (actually 7, i missed Season 1) my choices have come in second three times and i don't feel that's a bad thing, i stand by those choices today...

Season 1=missed it

Season 2=i was for Kimberly Locke, she came in 3rd

Season 3=runner up Diana Di Garmo, my choice

Season 4=Carrie Underwood, winner, my choice

Season 5=my most favorite runner up ever, Katharine McPhee

Season 6=Jordin Sparks, winner, my choice

Season 7=runner up David Archuleta, my choice

Season 8=runner up Adam Lambert, my choice /with Allison a close choice also

and so another season of Idol bites the dust...finale i thought sorta sucked this year, with the exception of Kara vs. Bikini "enhanced" Girl...i hope Kara is back and Paula hopefully will be gone and ok Simon can go to, but we all know Idol would be a done show without him, people are there to boo him..

thank you for this AI Pool it was fun and i enjoyed reading everyone's observations and opinions..hopefully we can do this again next year..like many here looking forward to watching SYTYCD..i watched it for the first time last year and enjoyed the hell out of it.

take care everyone, see ya round KMF or to some, see ya round the Twitter world..

First, thank you all for the congrats. Actually, I didn't expect to win as I saw Kris climbing up every week and with keefir1's intelligent prediction of him. I was thinking if I lose, it's because of him. And now, I won because of him. It's unbelievable! Congrats to you too keefir1. As with Adam and Kris, we are both winners!

Second, a big thanks to Joe for organizing the pool. We all have fun this past couple of months and it's a good opportunity for us to get back together again.

Now, some random comments and additional info about last night:

I think Kris was as shocked as everyone when he heard the verdict. After the show, he kept saying Adam deserves to win and he's still in shock. At one point, he even said that Adam deserves a recount. One thing I like about Kris is that he is so humble, innocent, and honest.

Adam is a real gentleman too. Knowing he should be the winner, he took it so well that he didn't give any hint of uneasiness or dissatisfaction. He was so calm, nice, and kept praising Kris for his talents.

According to some unconfirmed information, the state of Arkansas alone had put in 38% of the 100 million votes. Here you go with the South beating California believe, and once again showing that this is more of a popularity than singing contest.

Some performances that I enjoyed - Danny and Lionel Richie, Allison and Cyndi Lauper, Kris and Keith Urban, and of course Kara. She really has a good voice to prove that she knows what she's talking. A little surprise seeing her in bikini. For charity, I admire her courage to do that. As for the song she co-wrote, as far as I know, everyone hates it!

Most of the previous top idol contestants were present except Season 5's such as Kat, Elliot, Taylor, Kellie, and Lisa. I didn't see Jordan Sparks either. Those who attended were Chris, Ace, Paris, and Mandisa.

This is from Simon's brother Tony Cowell, Simon is coming back for Season 9. They may bring in another new judge next year.

On Tuesday night after the show, Terri Seymour, Simon's ex-gf was attacked outside Nokia by a woman who claimed herself as a Paula fan. She choked her for retaliation because Simon did that to Paula during the show a few weeks ago. She was arrested and being charged with assault and aggravation.

Damn, that's what I get for being over the hill. Kara sings in a bikini and I sleep through it? And on top of that, my guy gets beat. Oh well, he was around long enough for the world to figure out who Adam Lambert is.

Good ole Youtube, naturally a couple of people posted the performance.

Hiyah...

Thank you for a fun competition... Maybe next year... I go on top...LOL

I just got an iphone and no idea how it works - cant get the bluetooth going and so I cannot download KAT's songs yet.......

Anyhow, you should know that you have somewhat allowed me to have some fun, so far this year. I am having a challenging year with a new jobscope and everything else...so for me, things are not easy this year thus far.. I reiterate - you have given me some "RAINBOW" this year....TQ for that.

Cheers

Idol P.S. Something very interesting I heard on the radio yesterday...regarding the tally of final votes.Apparently,of the 100 million votes cast....the result was not even close. So Kris won by a huge margin!About that landslide, here's what Clay Aiken had to say, after stating that Adam's "Ring of Fire made his "ears bleed".It's all about judges' hype vs the original AI mission: the search for new talent

"In a battle between David and Goliath, my money is on David! I think many voters got sick of being 'told who to vote for.' I think many were turned off by the blatant favoritism shown towards one contestant. Therefore, on that last night, they used their votes against a contestant that they were tired of hearing about and for the contestant who had been written off. And, at the same time, I think they voted AGAINST an American Idol that has, for four years now, been more about the slick productions and polished contestants than it has been about finding the raw talent that it did in its first three seasons. "

Congrats katidol, keefir1, bian, bill, misty, goody, and to everyone else- you are all winners to me! And big thanks to Joe for orchestrating this club. I love belonging here and I've enjoyed myself sharing thoughts with you all as always, and more this time because of twitter . I know I did poorly this year in the pool as I did last year because of my emotional attachments to contestants. I vow not to do it anymore next time, if I have to have a shot @ winning this.

Well, I have written this on facebook as a reply to that Clay Aiken article, but indirectly, though, and I'd like to share it here with you all. This is my 2 cents about this year's idol.

(1st part) One must understand, the nature of Idol evolves year after year and the pluses and minuses of the predecessors, including judging trends, become part and parcel of the present. The contestants are now free to play instruments and show genuine musicality. The public has learned new effective methods of voting. What I see not happening yet is the validation of a contestant's uniqueness and electric mass appeal, beyond talent and performance, for if this were the UK or Canada, Bo Bice and Adam Lambert would have been winners.

(2nd part) Popularity. "American" Idol is also a sentiment where you cannot remove the greater mass cultures of those that regularly vote and/or really buy records, and, not to downplay anyone, who knows how well they know about great vocal sound, music and singing? Strategy. If top 3 Melinda Doolittle of season 6 had gone to the finals, she would have won, and AI would be known as a singing competition. Demographics. The South and Midland America have often spoken. But the West Coast has been waiting in line and would really like to rant it, wail it loud, mind you!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments about the pool and all of that.  As far as a SYTYCD pool goes...if enough people wanted to do it I'd be willing to organize it.  We mentioned it either last year or the year before that and nothing came of it so...I don't know.  I'd say we need at least 10 people to make it interesting.  So let me know if you're interested...I know we've got at least two (me & keefir).

My favorites and Idol...the only years I've really, really had a FAVORITE were Seasons 5 & 6 (I didn't watch the first 4 as they aired although I know Kelly would have been my fave in Season 1) and those were Kat & Jordin.  I liked a lot of the Season 7 people (David C, Carly, Michael, Syesha) but it wasn't like Jordin and nowhere close to like Kat.  And this year I enjoyed Allison the most but I grew to appreciate Adam, Kris & Danny.  The rest of them didn't do that much for me.

Clay Aiken's comments about the first three years vs the last four (he's missing a year).  Obviously the dynamics of the show are going to change the more it goes along.  The contestants know more of what to expect...I think they are getting more polished contestants now than they did early on because people see what it can do for them whereas in the 1st season that wasn't true.

Anyway...hope we can do this again for Season 9.  Maybe we'll have more people involved if Kat's second album does really well.  Hope so!

I'm an idiot. All I needed to do was mimic Barlo's pick to guarantee not finishing last, but I thought Adam had it in the bag. *smacks head*

Simon had said earlier that he wouldn't stay if Randy or Paula were kicked out, so I think we're stuck with those 3, and Kara will be gone if they don't stick with 4 judges. I hope she at least gets to be a mentor next season. I saw one of her sessions with eliminated contestants on Access Hollywood, and she was very good.

I've never followed a full season of SYTYCD, but I enjoy the show whenever it's on, and obviously the host is great. Don't the dance pairings get jumbled throughout the season? It would be hard to do a season-long pool if that were the case.

I'd iike to thank ev eryone who participated in this year's pool, and a special thanks to Joe for another fantastic job of organizing.

I'd also like to ad that I'm up for a SYTYCD pool too, if we can get enough particpants.I think my daughter will participate too. She's been dancing all her life, and I'd love to see her trying out one of these years.

OH, and CONGRATS to the winner. GREAT job Michael!!!!

WinnerS,Bill......I was the other one!

With you and your daughter,we'd have 4 to start and if we begin a thread....others might express interest.Since the auditions are over, and they'll be selecting the top 20 next week....that might be a good time to start.

What do you think Joe?Could we use the same format...even though the dancers will be intermittantly changing partners?

Thanks,Bill! Don't you just love people who solicit compliments?

Even if we don't have a pool,we could definitely have a discussion thread

What do you and your daughter think of SYTYCD thus far?I was asking Joe who seems to be more deluded......talentless people who think they can sing or those who think they can dance? The consensus this far is that rotund people, rolling around on the stage are kinda more ridiculous than the un-singersWhat do you think?

And then there's the bizarre duo of the guy,Sex and his Mother.

Anyway...Vegas should be fun this week!

LMAO, T! I thought I had last place in the bag so I went with my heart in voting for Kris!   This has been the craziest Idol season ever. Oh, and thanks for ruining my perfect fall from first to last! Or should I say, softening my landing - ha!

SYTYCD pool!  I'm taking Jeanine to win it.    Not sure how many people we would have had for that anyway.  I'm not even sure how to do it given they dance with partners every week but then half of the partnership can go and the other half doesn't.  Umm...I don't know.

Hi Joe....yeah a SYTYCD pool would be fun....but the logistics might pose a probelm.Guess we couldn't bet on a couple, because,as you said, the couples are eventually split up.Maybe when the top 20 are announced,we each could pick our top five and revise the list with the top 10.......etc.What do you think?
Too bad Mia is leaving for other pursuits...really like her!And so many injuries....the ripped off big toenail really gave me the creeps;as did that blown up ankle sprain!Dancing is much more dangerous than just singing......

Well I'm taking Kayla, she's the best dancer but I'm afraid that her personality may not shine through.

I really liked Kayla and yeah she was the best dancer but the competition is for your FAVORITE dancer, Jeanine was my favorite.    The girls were great in Season 5.  The guys other than Brandon...not so much.

My early favorites for Season 6 (haven't seen this week's yet) are Karen & Kathryn.

Hmm...my girl Kathryn didn't quite get it done.  She did win the title of Best Girl though so that was good.  Oh that's not the reason I checked this thread....I'm checking it to find the other people who played in the pool last year who haven't checked in with us for this year.  *going to do that now*
