I remember some of you saying you bought it, and since it was "released" two days ago....Have you gotten it? What is it exactly?

"I didn't see the crash that burnt the bridge, didn't see the missile that sank my loveship down..."--Kat McPhee, Dangerous

"Wanting you to be wanting me, no that ain't no way to be...You never were a friend of mine..."--Kat McPhee, Over It

"No more lonely nights to hurt me, no more tears left to spare, no more reasons to be unhappy. You threw them all up in the air..."--Kat McPhee, Each Other

There's isn't a list of the songs for it on Amazon.  It just says "various artists".  I'm guessing that it is other people singing the songs she did on Idol.

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.

I think Amazon should allow a new customer comment option just for this CD:

I tried to look up information on this CD earlier--and didn't find a thing. There's no customer comments on it over at Amazon yet either. Maybe the current sales rank of 'none' explains that. Though I'd think someone who's curious would buy it and find out what's on there. It's not going to be me, however, because I already knew basically what it would be a long time ago. I'm aware of these indie label 'Tribute' CD's for major music stars. Most of them hire third-rate studio singers who sing the songs the real artist made popular.

The real mystery here though is that Kat hasn't sung any original songs yet other than 'My Destiny.' So I assume these will be covers of the songs she sang on 'AI.'  Which means about 80% of it must be a standards/R&B-oriented CD without the original arrangements used on the show. 19E wouldn't loan out the arrangements they did to a small label like this for profit.

Some of these tribute CD's list the name of the third-rate singer singing the songs. This one has no mention of a singer, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's just an instrumental album. Calvin Records (the name of the label that's putting this out) also has a few string quartet tribute albums for various artists. There's another label doing the same thing out there. In fact, these 'Tribute' CD's seem to have found some kind of niche with some people...especially the string quartet ones.

So, here's a callout to some brave soul to check this out. If it's a mediocre singer on there...you can just cut and paste that famous painting of 'The Scream' above into any reviews you write anywhere.

A head-up that they have thirty-second sound samples of the 'artist' who's paying tribute to Katharine's song on this album. And it's exactly what I thought it'd be: A third-rate (flat-sounding) female singer who gives mediocre treatments of the songs Kat sang on 'AI'....

I think the Most Pathetic Award has to go to this woman's treatment of 'Over the Rainbow.' If anybody had the cajones (that's three syllables, Groucho ) to cover that song 'in tribute' after Kat's loving rendition, it's this singer. And, wisely, the singer isn't named. It's probably a studio singer of some sort hired to do this project and bank off Katharine's name.

Oh, and there's probably another award for taking 'Who Wants to Live Forever' and putting a slow Hip-Hop beat behind it---while sounding literally flat on the high notes. It just makes you shake your head in shame that Kat's name has to be plastered on something like this without her approval. I don't know what she thinks about it, but I'd recommend she not listen to it if she's used to critiquing good voices.  It's really an exploitation from this record company using an anonymous mediocre singer just to make a profit.

There's also a rendition of 'I Can't Help Falling in Love' there that should turn this album into a coaster fast once Kat and Andrea's rendition gets more airplay.

You notice, too, that the arrangements are different here. That's because 19 Entertainment wouldn't be caught dead supplying their own arrangements they made for Katharine to a record company doing this. So they can't be sued by 'AI.' However, Kat could based on a company using her name without approval. Though I don't think she'd start a lawsuit over this.

Well, there's no customer comments on Amazon about this album--which isn't hard to figure out with those sound samples.

Well, if we're going to get into a cojones contest... the point is can you do it as well or better than the original artist or with a different enough twist to justify having done it to begin with. In my highly biased opinion, Katharine did all of those things with Rainbow. I am admittedly not a huge Garland fan so it's easy for me to say that, and I realize it's heresy to some people. But I can't see any point to this CD at all unless it's to bilk $ out of people who don't know what theyr'e getting.
