Diff, in your post above... (Tonight Show, Over It True HD MPEG-2 mpg, 1920x1080) "Video goes all the way through the parts with Kat on the screen (shaking hands with other guests), up to the dog driving the car"... am I missing something or what?! The (excellent!) vid I just downloaded only had the (excellent!) performance, and nothing with Kat shaking hands with the other guests, or the dog driving the car(???)????

Also, for both of those "Over It" vids, "It's interlaced, so view in VLC and choose Video > Deinterlace > Blend (or whatever method you prefer)"

I'm still learning, so the Deinterlacing thing was a new one to me. I now know what you're talking about and how to do it, but it IS only these two vids that need to be deinterlaced, right? How would one normally know that or determine that? and I assume each time you play either of these vids they'd have to be deinterlaced, right? I did a little experimenting, and I THINK I had the best results with the "Discard" deinterlacing method (in VLC) with "Blend" being the second best... I THINK! Any comments and/or additional info on this is appreciated.

And finally... once again...

THANKS A MILLION!!! I simply cannot emphasize how much I've appreciated the great, friendly, extra special help and support here!!!

Katharine shaking hands with Cos and  Chloe at the end is what diff was talking about.  I think Leno calls her Kathy there too.    The dog driving the car is Leno's production company symbol and it didn't make the cut.

I find if I don't  have a bunch of other programs running then I can play the clips with VLC or MPC or pretty much anything and if I do then they are really choppy.  I don't see  much difference in playing with the interlace settings but you might have other results.  This computer I'm using is five years old so I'm hoping the next rig will handle them better.  They take full screen anyway so it isn't like multitasking is an option.

diff keep those modified trist files coming!  I'm going to put them in my third post as an option for VLC player people.

As CRB mentioned, after the performance, the other guests (and some other guy) come up to Kat on stage.

If you don't have any of the shaking hands, could your download have cut off early? I did a test, cut the download early, and the mpg video plays without error by VLC, MPC, and WMP. Check the file size.

For deinterlacing, whatever you like the best IS the best and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!  It's a matter of personal preference.

Everyone's cringing when they see you asking about deinterlacing, Royboy, cuz they're expecting a 6000 word post from me. They know me well...

"Discard" throws out every other horizontal line (sort of), then resizes back up to the correct size. sharper motion, less vertical resolution.

"Blend" averages fields. Motion is blurred/ghosty, but non(low)-moving parts are higher resolution.

The following site explains deinterlacing in an entertaining manner (considering the subject matter!) WARNING: If you read it, you risk future viewing enjoyment. You may find your eyes unnaturally drawn to moving edges...

hmm. I thought the dog made the cut. darn Maybe the very last frame? maybe not. I'd check but it's already so many unindexed bits on my hard drive.

oh btw, fixed Time of My Life is up!

OK, very technical question here:

WHAT did Kat say at 2:03ish & 2:11ish in the Vinman "My Funny Valentine" video??? I've listened a bunch of times, and I just can't quite make it out. Anyone???

One last (serious!) tech note: After doing some more playing around with VLC's Deinterlacing options (with the HD "Over It" vids), there's no doubt that Blend was the best option, and NOT discard.

Vinman started capping at Top24, so anything prior to that point is sourced from eMule or Torrent complete episodes that I downloaded and clipped the Kat part from.

Katharine says, "This is crazy" under her breathe as the judges are building the suspense at her her expense there.

I finally gotten MegaUpload  to cooperate and allow me to download diff's remuxed  (I've Had) The Time Of My Life and it plays great in VLC.

Thanks and keep'em coming.

Have you tried uploading through Mediafire? IdolCraze.com cappers use that to upload their torrented AI5 episodes. Upon request, they could upload vids into 100mb chunks for easier downloading. Might be a bit tedious, but it's a whole lot easier for me to DL my requests. What do the gurus think?

yup I tried mediafire for the Roses Parade. I got quite a lot of complaints that people couldn't access it.

And the vid there is gone too. So much for permanence!

The biggest problem is the access issue. Mediafire blocks certain countries completely I think. While annoying to most people, megaupload at least gives some access to (nearly) everyone. So if I switch to mediafire, there's a good chance others would be screwed completely.

Is your problem the limited download slots for your country for megaupload? There are some workarounds that I've seen posted on the internet. 1 is a Firefox add-on (can't vouch for it however. Try at your own risk):

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3843

I added fixed Can't Help Falling in Love for you to test in my earlier post

I haven't had any problems with Mediafire as of the moment. Well, I guess, some of the files I've DL'd are corrupted thereby disenabling me to download whole vids. It can be solved though by simply re-DL'ing the links.

I'll try that Mozilla add-on you gave above. It might take some time though before I might be able to actually do it since I'm in the middle of a job shift right now, and it's been crazy. I'll let you know if it works for me. Thanks.

The last of trist's remuxed mpgs are up in the last post of page 4.

Edit: "page 4" has changed to page 3 (?!) In the future, it could be something else. It's up there ^^^ somewhere. Take a left turn at Albuquerque.

Thanks diff for following up on these and making them all VLC compatible, I'm sure somewhere out there an Apple user is smiling.

BTW,  the MegaUpload page linked to the HD/ASU link on your page 4 post is BHATCT not the Elvis songs but if you cut and paste the text over the link it is the right page.  I hope that made sense.

Yes, thanks once again Diff for your latest outstanding contributions to this thead – possibly one of the all-time greatest Kat threads to date! Quite seriously, words cannot express how much I appreciate all the wonderful new found Kat vids I've been able to recently download and enjoy from this thread.

Vinman, Trist, CRB, and Diff, your kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity of time spent helping the rest of us enjoy these priceless and timeless Kat moments caught on "tape" will never be forgotten!

Forever grateful,

Royboy

I need help.. I've been trying to download trist's Over The Rainbow top 3 performance from quicksharing.com.. and it just won't let me download the file.. each time I try downloading the 450 MB file, it saves a file as a Html document with 1.24 KB that attempts to load in Windows Media Player..

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Yes, you are using the wrong link.

If you look through the other pages of this thread there are two other links for that SOTR Top 3 HD, quicksharing has issues, there is a split file (rejoin with hjsplit) at Sendspace or get differtlife's new improved and  revised  version of trist's file at MegaUpload.  Find those links and use them and you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks! Downloaded the file splitter, off to download everything else! I just got a faster internet connection!

Btw, I noticed some files have been deleted? God Bless The Child is no longer on sendspace

Also, would it be possible for you to zip all the mp3s together and upload it? It'd save you a lot of time.. I mean, you wouldn't have to re-download each file over and over again..

I have had GBTC uploaded  for quite a while and just haven't edited my post to add it ( I have saved my link post as a HTML text (Word) document ~ 50 page, it keeps it from becoming a mess. ).  Here is God Bless The Child media:

AVI

MP3

Now on the idea of uploading the mp3 set in a single zip, that is something that I could do but it would be for the convenience of the persons downloading the files because all my links are zero maintenance.  Because they are in my Sendspace Max (read: payed for) account and therefore I don't have download them weekly to  refresh the links.

I have a whole slew of new mp3's that I made from the HD mpegs files and Vinman files that likely trumps the ones that I have uploaded currently, which came from a hodgepodge of sources,  but I just haven't gotten them uploaded.

Check my posts on page 2 of this thread for download links for both of  the JC Penney Jam performances.

Ugly Betty isn't something I have handy or currently uploaded, as far as I know,  maybe differentlife has a link for that one.  The Vh1 thing is definitely diff's baby.

I also would like to take this opportunity to request couple of files as well.

These are the ones that I'd like to have some of you uploaded anywhere other than Megaupload or Rapidshare. Honestly, I don't even care if you would split some of the videos in half by WinZip them.

1. Katharine McPhee - Hound Dog/All Shook Up – Elvis Presley (TristHD Version)

2. Katharine McPhee - Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Judy Garland (TristHD Version)

3. Top 12 Girls Group Medley (TristHD Version)

I know some of you might be annoyed that I have not even gotten to know you people and I already started to request videos. The thing that I'm a regular uploader like some of people here, but most of the things that I uploaded, well let's say all of the videos, were not related to K. McPhee. If you want to see some of work, I'd mind sharing them with you people.

I actually have ton of High Quality videoes in over 10 GB in size ready to be downloaded. If you want them, I'll share them with you!

If you look through the pages of this thread there should be download links for those videos, I have them split and uploaded in my Sendspace account and diff's links of his remuxed versions may still work ( I can't remember the host that he used) ,  in the later pages of this thread.  The ones in my third post of page one are, as you have found out,  dead and have been for quite a while, but check pages 2 and 3 and I think you will find what you seek and maybe some other good stuff too.

And welcome zarut !

Edit: OK, it looks like both of the SOTR links work (see top of page 3 for those links) but the first chunk of the Girls Medley has gone bad and doesn't work.  So I'll have to reupload both pieces, since I didn't keep the splits,  and also HD/ASU, since the Quicksharing link was still working at the time,  I never  uploaded that to Sendspace.

BTW, I'm working on pulling stuff off my archived HD DVHS tapes to  fill in some of the gaps in Kat's late AI5 HD performance videos, so it may take a few days to get those two up.

What I recorded, way back in 2006, and should have up at some point (if all goes well)  are:

I Believe I Can Fly

I Aint' Got Nothing But The Blues

Black Horse And The Cherry Tree (Top 2)

SOTR (Top 2)

My Destiny (Top 2)

And all the other Kat stuff from those episodes (in HD) , if anyone wants it.

Plus the both of the  JC Penney Jam performances in full HD1080i!

So my plate is kind of full right now.  But those are now on my list zarut.

Thank you very much for your effort to help me.

I'm really thankful for your work.

If you can promise that you wouldn't mind uploading the other two videos, I guess I wouldn't mind waiting either. This is because some of the videoes that you mentioned. I have not even had them yet so please take your time.

Moreover, I'd be really happy to have the JC Penny Live performance in full HD.When was that performance anyway? How come I never heard of such thing?

What songs did she perform?

Welcome! Have you tried some of those megaupload workaround sites? You enter the megaupload link at another website and are able to download that way. I can't remember the sites but a few fans from outside the US suggested them as a way to download from megaupload when they couldn't download directly.
