It's great to hear from you and I'm glad you're feeling better. I, for one, never doubted you for a second. In fact, some of what you said in your letter I've been saying as well with regards to this whole non-issue. It's fantastic that you're able to clear things up personally but I know that won't always be the case. Folks just need to realize what a wonderful caring woman you are so they won't be tempted to believe the tabloids when they try spreading their trash.

Try to enjoy your downtime while you have it. I imagine great things ahead and that means being busy busy busy! Until next we hear you, enjoy the tour!

It's nice to know that Kat thinks so much of her fans that she took the time to personally write out a letter clarifying what's happening. 

But to be honest, reading this actually made me sad.  Because she really should not have to explain something like this to the very people who are supposed to be supporting her the most. 

Like I said on another thread, I completely understand wondering what's going on, worrying, speculating... that's all normal because we care about her.  I don't want anyone to think I'm above all that or that I'm scolding people for doing that. 

I just want people to realize that word does get back to Kat, and it does hurt her feelings.  I also hope that just because Kat was gracious enough to respond this time, people don't take this to mean that if they make enough noise, she will come out and address the issues again.

Just let this be a lesson that we, of all people, should be giving Kat the benefit of the doubt about anything and everything.  It's always gratifying to be the first to get new information, but a good rule of thumb is... don't believe anything until it's been confirmed. 

Thank you Kat...we never doubted that you were sick.  You have dedicated fans who will Carry You thru all the tough times.  Continue to get well and we look forward to your return soon.

Thanks Cornelius!  I had a feeling this is what was going on, but from outside the industry, not everyone is aware of these things, which is why I hoped to shed some insight.  Kat, if you happen to be lurking, Thanks SO much for posting, even though I feel really bad that you had to post in response to these rumors-we Phans should all just take things as they're given us, and realize that the Kat Kamp knows what it's doing. Ultimately, what everyone needs to realize, is that things like the rumors and negativity form the press this week, though tough on us, are actually not all bad-and even though we love having an official statement to "make the rumors go away", we can't expect her to come over every time, pat us on the head, and set things straight.  We've gotta keep the McPhaith, and remember one very important thing: This past week, Kat has gotten a great deal of press , much of it being neagative press based on rumor. Now, if she'd just popped right in and set everything straight, it would have eliminated all this press.  However, now, all that press turns from negative press to mis-informed press-which basically means that Kat's name has been out there for people to see-and because these rumors are dispelled, all that's left over is a week worth of Kat-press, which is great. The better Kat does, the more music, magazines, and appearances we Phans have to look forward to.  We can all help out tremendously by just continuing to support her, and by ceasing to question every little morcel of rumor that's printed about her.  From now on, don't get mad that they're saying untrue things about her-be happy that they're saying ANYTHING about her.  Yay Kat!

It was so great of Katharine to clear this up for us, I knew not to doubt her. Like I said in another thread, Kat would never intentionally disappoint her fans. I hope she makes a speedy recovery. Can't wait for the concert!

OMG KAT!! I never had a doubt in my mind about the tour, i knew it couldnt be helped at all! I dont listen to the gossip. I think its mean, hurtful, and a waste of time. Those people must a crappy life of their own in order to talk gossip about other people. We will defend you in every way we can! Or at least try too!! We love you Kat! I hope you get to talk soon. So good to hear it from you!! I never believe these rumors, not when they're about someone I love as much as you. You don't need to worry, 'cause we, your fans, will be always by your side, no matter what these mean people say.
I can't even imagine how hard it has been for you not to talk for so long... but like someone said before, you take that time and rest a lot... 'cause I'm sure that once you get totally Ok, you'll be busy for a long time with all the wonderful things that I know that gonna happen to you...

Thanks for writing Kat. You needn't have worried about this bunch. Our concern was that a lot of bad rumours were being spread around and hurting your reputation without being countered by anyone on the idol team or on your team. I don't think I am aware of anyone in this forum who actually believed the rumours even for a minute. But there may well be some people out there who will only hear the rumours and not hear your side of it. This could damage your career in the short term.

So the main point I think in this forum was to get someone official, either your management or someone at AI, to make a public statement, to quell the rumours, to tell the truth.

This would still be a very good idea!

I guess this means that the only good rumour - that you are in Albany NY and joining the tour on Wednesday isn't true either?

It is a relief to know that you don't pay any heed to the gossip columnists and vicious rumours. I was more worried about you being hurt by them than us. It is nice to know that you are so sensible and strong. I hope you never, ever pay them any heed. Those of us who admire and love you will always be faithfull. Those who don't - well, there is no hope for them anyway!

Thanks KAT for clearing up those vicious rumors. Its amazing how quickly those rumors gain traction in other fan boards. I'm glad that you have targeted July 21st as your return date. I'll be able to see you (July 29th). Just keep getting better and you will make this tour the best one yet. Those Rochester fans will be thrilled that you are making your tour debut that night. Evidently there are more fiction writers out there in the world than I was aware of! Too bad somebody can't sue them for defamation of character or something.

Or maybe we all just worry too much because we want so badly for Katharine's career to get off to the best possible start so it will build properly on a great foundation and last a hundred years. Well, heck, look at Jane Fonda. She's older than I am (that's saying a lot) and she looks fantastic and is still going strong! That's what we want for Katharine.

Dear Katharine,

please do not be disheartened by all the negative rumours and mean things people have said about you.

Your peace of mind and happiness should not depend on external factors but on your relationship with God and secondly the family and friends He has blessed you with.

As I'm sure your experiences have taught you, depending on external affirmation  will never give you contentment.

All the challenges and setbacks you've experienced so far in your young life must have been placed there by God to help mature and make you a stronger person as well as bring you closer to your Him.

So continue to face up to your challenges with good courage and we, as your fans will continue to cheer you on.......as well as buy countless of your CDs and buy all the tickets to your future movies and Broadway shows and concerts

Kat, im really glad u where able to clarify this for your fans that have been believeing in rumors. I have never had any doubts about u and i have never thought for one minute that you would cheat on your fans. I have not believed any of the rumors because i believe you that you would never treat your fans that way. Unfortunately, I cannot attend the American Idol tour because the day you are coming to my hometown, which is August 5, I am going to be in California. Believe me, I was so upset when I found that out. I wish there was some way I could be in contact with you or be able to meet you.
