I am so sorry that you have to put up with a) your laringitis that made you miss some shows,  and b) the false rumors and gossip, etc..

Thanks Katharine for taking the time to give us this update. We really appreciate that you responded to some of the wild specualation and rumors that were being bandied about. You are so right that unfortunately the world has changed and rumors and half-truths get a life of their own.

I missed seeing you at the concert in Manchester NH last thursday but I completely understand your situation and believe in you completely. I can't wait to see you perform the great material from your soon to be multi-platinum CD next year. The first of many tours to come. Thanks so much for taking time to give us the real lowdown on what's going on with you and even giving us the word from your doctor about a possible date you might get released to join the tour. We have total McPhaith in you but it is rather difficult when there is a barrage of gossip outlets and bashers claiming to have some inside information on what is going on behind the scenes with you and the tour and we're left to wonder if there is possibly at least a grain of truth to some of it. It was very considerate of you to write us a note to reassure us that you are very much looking forward to joining the tour as soon as you get the OK and your regret for the fans that have already missed you. All of us as your fans look forward to seeing and hearing you perform again but above all we want to know that you are healthy and happy so PLEASE take care of yourself even if that does mean total silence for a while which I know is difficult. Just know that we all love you, are thinking about you, and are praying for your speedy recovery.

Kat I'm really glad that you put this message out to us the fans because the speculation and idiotic theories some people fron other fanbases were coming up with about your absence from the tour were really irriitating, not to mention delusional.

Thanks so much for keeping us updated on your progress! It must be really hard to not be able to talk for over 10 days, I know I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut for that long.

I'm praying for you to get better and for your voice to completely recover, and I know that you will! Many of us have been fighting back against the negative speculation that has been going on, and your mom was very grateful and I thank her so much for letting me know she appreciated me trying to dispell some of these crazy and malicious rumors that were going around! You're right, I know that things like that come with the territory, and I know you're a really strong person, but it hurts us when we see untrue and bad rumors started about you. You are smart for not letting those things bother you, all your fans are behind you 100%, and I for one can't wait to see you at the concert in Tampa!

All of those rumors etc.etc. are so hateful and disgusting, and directing them to someone as sweet and sincere as you are , hurts us too. Katharine, thank you very much for clarifying.  Some people were very concerned about the RUMORS and it reached the point you had to respond.  Unfortunately this probably won't be the last time that happens.  I hope it's no too frustrating for you, and hopefully you can just accept it as part of the gig, sad as that may be.

McPhans, first of all I quoted Mutt here because I agree whole heartedly with what he said, and because it needs repeating.  Read it again.  Remember it.  Write it down.  Cut and paste it to your permanent documents.

I realize it's upsetting that some of you have/will miss Kat on the tour, and that we all had to deal with the negative speculation surrounding her absence.  It's gotta be ten times harder on Kat, but I hope we can learn something from this.

It is not Katharine's responsibility to dispell RUMORS.  It is our responsibility as her fans to ignore the RUMORS, especially after Katharine and Peisha have both already told us what's going on.  That should be more than enough assurance for us, her fans.

I also realize that some of you wanted something more concrete to arm yourselves with to do battle with the bashers on other boards.  I commend you for your efforts, however as I have stated in the past, I no longer go to the other boards for exactly that reason.  There are people out there that are just ingnorant and mean spirited, and they are not worthy of our time and energy.  KMF has become a great refuge from the garbage out there.  There is no reason to have to venture out and put up with those morons in order to be able to interact with fellow McPhans.  Everything we need is right here!  And if the occasional troll happens by he will be delt with swiftly, once and for all, by the Mod Squad.

As for the tabloids and gossip rags, just take them as they are...GARBAGE!  Or better yet, IGNORE THEM!  Easier said than done right?

Hey Kath, don't worry... personally I never thought those rumors were true and I think most of the fans didn't think so either. For me the real fact was very clear from the begining, you needed VOCAL REST and that was it.
But thanks anyway for being so thoughtful and considered with your fans and taking time to clarify everything. And I feel really sorry for all the fans that missed you in the concerts but Cheer up guys!!!, there'll be plenty of Katharine McPhee in the future for us.

Ignoring the rumors is no sweat to me. I simply don't go to AI boards, those bashers were probably some 8-10 yr old kids who had nothing to do on their summer vacation.  But I'm kind of confused though, if Kat will not join the rest on AI Tour till July 21st, she's not gonna be in "THE VIEW" on July 19th? As much as I'm dying to see her on that show, it's kind of awkward that she's gonna be one of the hosts that day. As entertaining and likable as she is, I'm sure she can be a good host, but what about the voice rest? So she's not gonna be on that show then? OMG I'm so confused!! Anybody can clarify this please.
BTW, thank u Kat for taking time to explain although u really don't need to, especially on this site. Oh, but we do love hearing from you.  We're dying to hear ANYTHING from you! You constantly amazes me.

As someone who understands firsthand the disappointment of not seeing you on tour (I purchased 2nd row seats to the July 9th Hartford CT show... and I live in Memphis!), believe me when I say that my devotion to you is as strong as ever, and I would never believe the pitiful tabloid rumours swirling around about you. My only concern is for your health and for your condition to improve. Any true fan realizes that these circumstances are completely out of your control, so you should definitely be patient... and take care of those precious vocal chords of yours! Although it pained me not to see you up close, the longevity of your career is of the upmost importance. That way, all Kat fans can enjoy you for years and years to come.
