katidol, so great that you will get to see this! Money is pretty tight right now, but count me in for at least 50 sticks. I think this is a GREAT idea, and it's so amazing how quickly and eagerly we all come together to make Kat smile. That's what we're all about and there are no others out there like us.

I can't believe I'm doing this either.  But I can't believe that I kept buying Katharine's single on ITunes a few times a day for the first week it was out.  And that I also ordered three on Amazon, bought two in the store the first day it was out and then bought another one a few days later just for kicks to go with the Teen People issue.

Funny the effect the girl has had on many of us.  I'll do $50 if we're going forward with this.  I'm not sure how many sticks that is (150 or so I guess).

I'm sure the good folks in Los Angeles will understand what this is for even if they aren't huge Katharine fans.  I'm guessing all the people going down there fully realize who the "hometown girl" will be that night.

Not like all those roses weren't good, but this would top it I'd think.  So count me in...

Even if she found out...to actually see it when she came on stage would still be quite a sight for her.  Somebody absolutely, positively must get video of all of this if we can make it happen.

I don't think any of our projects have been complete surprises to her. Then again, Kat's probably not coming on here now because of her touring schedule. But hopefully she has internet access on her laptop while on the road. There's also internet access in most luxury hotel rooms now. That, assuming they don't have them staying in the bargain rooms.

This idea of filling the whole arena with orange glowsticks is a great one--if extremely ambitious. I'd like to participate, though I'm going to wait to make any commitments to anything until we get a better idea of what's going to happen here. That's a lot of money involved for something that hasn't really been finalized yet. But, if nothing else, seeing the video of Kat's reaction to 20,000 glowsticks in the arena deserves media attention again. Maybe we won't be as lucky on that as we did with the roses project. We had the advantage of having 'AI' still on the air then. Nevertheless, reviewers from the L.A. Times, etc., will obviously bring it up in their reviews...if even getting to wave the glowstick themselves.

Good going on coming up with this idea, Chad.  This would hopefully make up for the previous homecoming that some people thought wasn't as large as it should have been. And there'll probably be some well-known celebs at this show too who will get a set of those glowsticks...whether they're an Elizabeth Hasselbeck clone or not.

Ok, at this point we have a commitment of 2000 from various members as well as 2500 from Chad, BCollan, Minnie, KatFan49 and last but not least Kmac, all of whom committed 500 glow sticks.

That gives us 4500 thus far in total.

I think glow sticks are a good idea, but I think Katharine should get more than that. I had an idea too, but it might be impossible to do. I think the other Idols should plan a surprise for her backstage while Katharine is onstage singing. They could all sneak up behind her after she finishes her first song or something like that. Unless they are all ready planning something. Any one have any thoughts or suggestions about my idea?

OK we are now over 7000 pledged glowsticks! For those of you who are tentative on if we actually do this, please pledge the minimum amount of glowsticks you would donate. I want pledges for 10,000 before opening up the payment process.

Also, I told Kat a while ago about the glowsticks for sale at the top with KatharineFans.com on them. She said she would be looking for those in the crowd, so yes, she knows orange is her color. She won't have to strain to find 20,000 though!

While I think it is a great idea, we have no control over what the other idols do. 

We do have control over handing out a ton of free glowsticks to concert goers.   Don't think of it as merely glowsticks, think of the moment it will be for Kat in her career.  10,000 - 20,000 glowsticks, lit up just for her.  I am also going to see what I can do about having a few people going to the concert start chanting...Kat...Kat...Kat...before she comes on. 

Can you imagine people synchronizing the chant with the glowsticks in the air? Ah to be there...
