Hey guys, I am going to be making t shirts with katharinefans.com, the glowstick company and HOPEFULLY kroq on them for those helping to hand out the glowsticks. Limited edition! hahaha

Now this is a great idea! You could get more than enough students involved to both pick up the glowsticks and distribute them. Maybe get one of Katharines former favourite teachers to organize it at the HS? The one she had a crush on???

I don't see how this project can both be successfull and remain secret - the 2 things are mutually exclusive! I'd put the emphasis on the former and not worry too much about the latter.

Is KROQ involved?

I'm going on vacation in a couple weeks, so funds are limited, but I would like to help. I'll pledge $5. It's not much compared to the rest of you, but I have to really watch my spending as vacation is going to be pretty expensive. Sorry....

I have emailed kroq but haven't gotten a response. So we will see.

As far as it being a secret, we can at least try. Let's see how it goes.

I won't be able to get any glow sticks, but I just want you all to know that I'm supporting her homecoming concert just as much as you all are. I wish I thought of my ideas sooner. I did make her a fanbook from most of her fans at katharine-mcphee.org, which I'm going to try to give to her this Sunday. I really think Katharine is going to cry once she sees all of those glow sticks. Someone better tape this concert. lol.

Update on the project....

The manager of the glowstick warehouse didn't come to work today, so he is going to call me first thing Monday morning. By Monday evening, I will have all details in place. I will then give all the different methods of payments available to you.

Hey, Chad--since you want a minimum amount that we'd be willing to donate, put me down for 50 glowsticks right now. That might change when you get more information from that company (it'd be nice for a lower fan price on those if they permit it), but that's probably the best number for me to stick with since I have some other expenses I'm dealing with for this month.  And every little bit counts--plus keeping in mind that Kat never wanted us to lay out too much money on her...as much as we still did buying gifts for her during 'AI.'

This may be the best (and most ambitious) project we Kat Packers have ever done, and I hope we can get some committed media coverage for the event. TV is the best place to show the fruit of our labours, despite radio (KROQ) maybe being the instigator that'll lead to that. Even some national coverage would be great. Though we were just fortunate on the roses project happening when the most-watched show on TV was still going.

Yes, I'd prefer writing a check to you next week--and because I have no experience dealing with with PayPal. Along with this being for Kat's homecoming, let this payment also be a sort of 'thanks' for everything you've provided for us here over these past months.

Let's hope Ted Casablanca's extended family (does he have one?) doesn't fill up a quarter of the Staples Center audience.

I already pledged $50....but just to make it an even number of glowsticks...I'll do 200 sticks...so I guess that's $68 unless the price drops.  So adjust your numbers accordingly.  I think that adds 53 to the count from my original pledge.  Thanks.

As for Staples Center capacity for concerts...I'm looking at a site called StaplesCenterEvents.com and they say the place holds:

-- 19,000 for basketball (actually 18,997 from Lakers box scores I'm looking at).
-- 16,000 for hockey (that's wrong the capacity is 18,118 for Kings games).
-- and over 20,000 for concerts.

So...I think as long as you've got 10,000 that's good.  As long as they are distributed as evenly as possible throughout the building having half of the people covered will definitely create the effect we're looking for.  Plus, I'm sure some people already have their own glowsticks that they'll be bringing...not sure how many but...

Oh, the only caveat on my donation is....there absolutely must be a fantastic video account of this.  Not sure if Peisha could arrange somebody to film the thing for all of us but we have to be able to see the whole thing.  Katharine's face when she comes out, all the orange sticks glowing, everything.

I wish I could help! =( I would buy as much glowsticks as I could if the money was mine, but my parents still pay for my bills, and they've been spending a lot with me for the past months, so I feel like I can't ask for anything else right now... =(

Im going to the concert and I own a big cargo van that can carry all the glowsticks. If they are going to charge for shipping, just let me know and I can pick it up and bring it to Staples Center with my van so we can avoid every excess penny they would charge for shipping and just put it towards the glowsticks. Im pretty sure I can fit that amount in the van (Chevy Express)...
