Hey Katharine!
I hope the McPhans who deliver these letters to you don’t reprint them from the beginning of time. Although maybe you enjoy rereading them!
Anyway, I think you are a totally cool girl. That’s not meant to be pejorative; I just think it has a better ring to it than “cool woman.” Or what about “Wonder Woman”! There’s a catchy name! I think it is amazing that there is so much buzz about you being considered for the STARRING ROLE IN A MOVIE! I, being a humble commoner, don’t know if it’s true. But I don’t remember seeing things as fantastic as this about other American Idol contestants. (“Justin Loves Kelly” doesn’t really count.) But I have to admit I haven’t followed the others nearly as closely as I’m following you. KMF is a really fun read.
I don’t know how much of the KMF website you’ve had a chance to read (there’s tons, isn’t there?), but the “If I had one wish” thread is pretty interesting. I think one person summed them all up with the phrase “we all want to be your best friend.” This means not only hanging out with you doing fun stuff, but also looking out for you. We all care a great deal about your well-being. We are patiently waiting for your voice (and foot and whatever else) to totally heal so that your whole self will be healthy. There was a creepy post from a guy in one thread (that appears to be gone now – thank goodness) but I could imagine me and the other 4000 McPhans circling the spiritual wagons around you to protect you. I’m sure we would physically circle around you if we could.
It’s still completely crazy to me that total strangers have so much love for you. And being reasonable people (I know I’m reasonable! ), I can’t understand how we can spend so much time and energy on someone we haven’t met. But we are there for you, Kat! I’m sure I’m not the only one who knows it is simply impossible for you to have personal contact with each of us, yet secretly harbors the hope that I’ll be the one to connect with you! Although these letters I write feel like keeping a journal – I don’t want anyone to see what I’m working on and I don’t expect a reply! BTW, I’m tickled that you’ve taken the time on multiple occasions to send an email to us here at KMF. You rock!
More later. Good luck with the next concert!!!
