Is anybody watching The Amazing Race? This is the first time I've followed this show. It's down to the final four now. I'm really pulling for the father-daughter team, Ronald and Christina. A lot of people hate Ron, but being a Chinese-American, I can say that much of his behavior is standard operating procedure for Chinese parents. Not that he doesn't have his flaws, but I'm sure many of Christina's good qualities come from him.
I don't really dislike any teams, but I disagree with the Internet consensus. TK & Rachel (the dating hippies) and Nick & Don (the grandson-grandfather team) seem to be the sentimental favorites, but I can't get on board with their seemingly casual approach to the race. It might get a little ugly and stressful with Ron/Chris and Nate/Jen (whose fights are pretty entertaining), but at least they're showing some tenacity.
The finale is this Sunday, and I can't wait! I'm thrilled that Ronald and Christina made the final 3, but bummed that we won't get to see the trainwreck that is Nate and Jen's relationship again. Then again, seeing them get eliminated (on Jen's birthday!) last Sunday was a hoot. ("I can't believe you're treating me so bad on my birthday!" "We killed our relationship!") The last leg is in Alaska, so there aren't any language barriers to trip up anybody. TK and Rachel, being the youngest and arguably the most athletic team, would seem to be the favorites to come in first, but they seem too inept and mellow to take it. They bore me, too. Nick and grandpa Don are kind of entertaining with their sometimes salty comments, but they're too slow. Somebody analyzed the preview and predicted Ronald and Christina, winners of the last leg, would take the million-dollar grand prize, based on facial analysis. (They seemed to be more happy and content compared to the others, implying Ron/Chris were in control.) Daddy and daughter would be deserving champions, having won 2 legs in a row and 3 overall. Ron and Chris for the win!

I watched it and loved it!!!! I cannot wait for another season....... It was announced that the season 13 will air on Summer 2008.......... I don't know if I will have time to watch it because I might not be back from Thailand until August! I felt bad for Ron and Christina because I wanted them to win really bad........ Probably, I am an Asian who want to cheer somebody up who is similar!
P.S. Too bad, this season, they didn't go to Thailand..........
Bummer! Ron and Chris were in the lead for most of the last 3 legs, but Chris tripped up on the puzzle. Yeah, I liked them because they were Chinese, but also because Ron lives 45 miles south of me. I think the hated Ronald probably will not change that much, but Christina will be able to handle him, and they'll both be alright.
I can't believe TK & Rachel won after making so many mistakes. They lost their clue at a cafe, and then needed 4 ultralight flights to spot a simple clue in Italy. Then they took the slow route to Japan and lost by 3 hours, but were saved by a non-elimination leg. Finally, they foolishly chose to look for a clue in a tank of live Alaskan crabs. (PINCH!) Not exactly a great winning team.
zarut, did you see the previous episode where they went to Taipei (or Tah-PIE, as Jen would say), and Nate talked about how he liked Thai food and had Thai friends?!!!! Hahaha! Maybe while you're in Thailand, TAR13 will tape a leg in your country, and you'll have to dodge a bunch of crazed racers asking for directions...
Final statistics below. Notice that Ron and Chris were the only team never to finish last, tied with TK & Rachel/Azaria & Hendekea with the most leg wins (3), and never finished below the median after the first 2 legs.
Heh. I didn't realize that so many people mix up Taiwan and Thailand. Yeah, I would be frustrated, too.
I just found out about Amazing Race Asia. I think the channel that carries it is AZN, which is shown on some cable systems. It used to be on Comcast basic cable. I didn't like many of their programs, but I'd check it out if I still received that channel. Do they just travel around Asia, or do they go all over the world?
I've never met them before, but the articles say that Ron lives in Tacoma, Washington (I'm near Seattle) and Christina lives in Washington, DC.
