She sang it well...didn't make it her own, but she hit some good notes.

Yep, I've been hearing a lot about her lately. I've watched about six performances...she can sing (great range), but her voice lacks warmth imo.

And so does her persona. Her performance of Summertime compared to Fantasia's in the third season of Idol...I think she has potential if she can break oout of her shell.

I don't sense the IT factor though.

But I'm critic of everyone nowadays.

She IS shy, I agree. It seems a strange thing to say about someone who has to sing 'live' every Saturday evening.  I don't think it's 'put on'. She was sick last week btw.

Funny thing is, I've not actually phone voted for Leona, or any other contestant in both UK/USA versions, over the years. The only person that's ever inspired me to do so, was Kat.

Leona's through to the final.

She sang 'I have nothing' and 'SOTR'. It was an okay performance on both, but she doesn't really come close to Kat's AI ones.

That SOTR is the Eva Cassidy version note for note...Leona did a nice job, but her voice holds little excitement for me.

I Have Nothing was impressive vocally...but I wish Leona would attempt to change these songs up. It's a lot easier to compare them to the original artist when you sing them EXACTLY like the original.

I exited out before the comments...what did Simon say? That it was the best version of SOTR in the out of all Idol shows? Wouldn't surprise me since he said she was the best female out of all Idol shows. I don't really see the appeal. I would never deny that she's a great singer but there's nothing extra that makes me want to watch her performances more than once. As for SOTR, I really only enjoyed the glory notes...the rest I could do without.

It's just an observation, but don't most AI viewers have a lot of respect for Simon as a judge? He's a straight shooter who know's his stuff etc. lol

Btw, the other finalist is a guy called Ray. He's got a below average voice, but seems to have attracted the 'under dog' vote. The X factor is truly dire.

^Hardcore AI fans despise Simon's manipulation and flip-floppy style. If Simon had his way, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughty, and Taylor Hicks wouldn't have made it anywhere on AI. He's not always a great judge of talent. He's all about image and marketability and such, and he gets behind who he feels America will get behind...

I heard her version of I Have Nothing. There were some fantastic notes she hit there. I'm inclined to say that her performance was better than Katharine's but only because I can really hear Kat struggling with some notes on that song. But who can be able to beat her eye (and button) popping yellow dress? I say no one..
