Kat did a great job with Over it this morning. She of course looked fab. There was a lot of banter between the three of them and they seem to really like her. Someone needs to work with Kat and the overuse of the word "like". While typing this Juliet just said Katharine gives her the chills that she has "the voice of an angel". Doesnt get much better than that. You can see that Kat is getting more comfortable with each performance, she is playing around with the song and changing it up here and there.

Everything from the interviews to the song were wonderful on this show. Kat looked rested and confident and she really looked like she was enjoying herself. Mike and Juliet really seemed to be thrilled to have Kat there. Mike could not wait for her segment and, as you said, Juliet loved her performance. Even Kat's faux pas with: "less is more;" was adorable. Kat handled it beautifully. She is really becoming a consumate performer while remaining herself. I never get the feeling she is being false or just "putting it on." She is really becoming the star we all knew she would be.

I think you can hear in this interview that there has been some discussion of whether or not she should say too much about Idol being confining and controlling, and also (admittedly) a little advice about not talking about Nena so much...and then the "where's Nick?" thing... well, looks like there's been an attempt at what they might consider damage control or controlling the focus, but I don't think it's going to work. It's like trying to avoid paparazzi, people just want to know about her. Once information has gotten out there, it's not going to just disappear. I guess they're trying to change the focus or something, and I think maybe it doesn't feel right to Katharine, so she gets a little frazzled and says "like" 20 times in 3 sentences. She wasn't doing that for awhile, if you recall. Or maybe it's the same as with the song, where she seems to loosen up as she goes along, and there's more camera flirting and moving around as it goes on and she gets more into it. Maybe it just takes a few minutes to settle in with each new set of interviewers. Still, I think it's obvious that she loves to talk about Nena and that actually puts her at ease. It's obvious she's not just a fashion accessory. She's the "baby."

You wouldn't ask a country singer to lose their southern accent would you? Katharine's target audience can identify with her because she is just like one of them, including the way they talk. I never even noticed anything weird or wrong (and nothing is) with the way Kat speaks until it was pointed out here on the boards. Maybe it's because where I'm from that's how people talk, but to me it's not even an issue. With or without coaching (which I am decidedly against) the "like's" will becoming less and less with age and maturity, from what I have observed.

You know, I didn't even notice Kat using 'like' today, and I WAS THERE LIVE. She used to use it alot when she was 'new' to interviews and very nervous. Not lately though! I agree with Mark, Kat speaks perfectly fine just as she is.

I agree that her choice of expressions is perfectly acceptable. I think she uses the vernacular of the Valley alot more when she's relaxed and NOT nervous because that is her natural self. To suddenly use perfect grammar and no colloquialisms wouldn't be right for Katharine. That is just part of her charm. She seems to suit the vibe of NYC more than LA. Her interviews are more spontaneous and more informative and she seems to be having a great deal of fun. A bit later on in her career she will probably move to NY to maybe pursue Broadway gigs to which she is highly suited. I wish her management would just allow her to be the young carefree woman that she is.

Remember gang that you scrutinize Kat much more closely than most people do. I am with some of the group - I didn't notice some of what everyone is pointing out, and I am pretty sensitive to use of vocabulary. Few others hear what avid fans hear. The only thing I will say that I HAVE noticed is Kat's constantly pushing her hair out of her face. Sometimes that is a nervous habit (though I am sure hair in your face can be annoying, but I'm a dude so I wouldn't know). But I'd love to see her do a little bit less of that and let the hair do what it wants to do (besides, hair fallen in front of the face is natural and can be quite sexy).

Okay, I have a question here for the moderators of KMF. How exactly is KateC's post a Media post? And more importantly how does trippy11's great cap that nobody else has get buried in this quasi chat room thread. differentlife couldn't get this cap and was over at IDF looking for a capper for it. Well he got one and thier great cap gets buried into a thread that is in the wrong forum to begin with. I don't think it encourages people to bring clips here in the first place, when this is the "payback" for the effort. These media-free threads are becoming more and more common in the Media Forum and it is a not a good trend. If you have media (or a request for media even) post it and if not take it to the appropriate forum.
