Thanks to the industrious kat_pack15, who posted this at IDF. She's going to sing for us, and it's
just...well... as another descendant of Irish/Scottish/German (and then some) immigrants, this sorta got
to me. Someone observed that she seems to be singing a "lullaby to America." Get yer kleenexes out
and don't say I didn't warn you.

Katharine McPhee
RCA Recording Artist and Actress
Sounds Like Family

Descended from Irish, Scottish and German immigrants, I honor America's connection to people from all over the world. I see myself as part of a larger global family and believe in the importance of its shared history. Thanks to the hard work of many before me, my dreams are becoming reality. With every song I sing, I share another piece of myself with my growing, extended family. I proudly support Save Ellis Island and preserving the birthplace of so many great American stories.

I got so sick of having my computer tell me I couldn't see this or that file because the necessary
Quicktime components weren't available that I finally tracked it down on line and downloaded the latest
version. et voila!

Great find,Groucho!Once again,Kat lends her beauty and talent to a good cause! Her message is delivered in a very touching manner...did need that tissue. The close-ups of Katharine are quite stunning and her pianissimo rendering of,This Land is Your Land, is so pure and lovely!!This is without a doubt, the best public service announcement I have ever seen!

that picture they're using is certainly more reminiscent of "America's Sweetheart" than Miss "We're not in Kansas anymore," isn't it?

If you'd like a nice big version of that ad, here it is.

She really does epitomize the American Dream for so many. No she didn't go from rags to riches but she still symbolizes in many ways what so many dream to be. Again "Creation At Its Best," and the media knows it!

The cool thing here is that not only do they feature Kat in her 1 minute+ vignette spot about Ellis Island, BUT she LEADS off what looks like the 1-minute national commercial spot in stunning fashion AND she makes a great appearance in the other 1-minute national commercial spot. More wonderful national exposure for our girl!

Here is the link to the national TV spots:

Thanks guys for the links. It is such an honor for Kat to be chosen to be in these promos.  I had the wonderful experience of visiting Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty right after it was reopened to the public, three years ago.  It was such a moving experience to stand in the actual place, to view all the media exhibits and to read the stories of those who immigrated to America.  If you haven't seen them yet, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are must sees and definitely should be saved!!

The image “http://www.katharine-pictures.org/albums/userpics/10001/ellisisland.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

We are definitely working together -- working on a record together. She sings so magnificently, it's just amazing -David Foster-

Keep an eye out for Kat. TV advertising will break this week (8/20) on cable and in-cinema, followed by print in September issues of entertainment and lifestyle magazines and outdoor billboards in a dozen U.S. cities. I wonder if she'll be on any billboards too. Fantastic...more exposure for her.

At the end of the second TV spot, it felt as if one of the Sopranos was telling me to (Yo!) donate...or swim with da fishes!

As with all of you, that segment with Kat is beyond beautiful and magical...and quite emotional if any of you have had ancestors who went through Ellis Island as I have. My great-grandfather and his family entered this country through Ellis Island around the turn of the 20th century. I may have more relatives who had too...but his name is on that famous wall of names as true evidence. That means he and his family were likely in that same rickety building where Kat sings "This Land is Your Land."

Will you ever see a commercial that's so haunting and unforgettable as that segment with her? Somehow I picture the souls of all those past immigrants surrounding her as she gives the full essence of the meaning behind that place. You could tell Kat was awed by it herself. While some products Kat hocks haven't always felt right...this is one cause she should be more than proud of being involved with for as long as she can. As usual, she'll be the one who helps bring in the most money for the cause. It won't be because of Elliott Gould.

Incidentally, I wonder just how safe those old Ellis Island buildings are? They look like they could collapse in a pile of rubble just going up those stairs...and I'm sure structural engineers advised Kat and the other celebs to be careful walking around in there. But, yes, I hope those buildings can be restored. I'd love to tour those eventually without fear of thinking it'll collapse around me if I sneeze or a breeze comes up outside.

Oh, and I had no idea Kat had German ancestry. Irish and Scottish, yes--but interesting that it extends a little further. That'll dispel the rumors of her having Italian ancestry (as well as dozens of others people have tried to turn into urban legend in the last year). I have relatives from some of the same places...so those connective threads also make this personally powerful...

I made some cuts from 1.mov, the 90 second one. They're all AVI, XviD/mp3

"Music video" version (just This Land Is Your Land)
Simulated stereo edit ("enhanced" audio)

Love this song

Kat's whole part, song portion has enhanced audio. The rest is the original audio

There are two commercial ads for TV and cinema.  One features Kat singing "This Land is Your Land" at the beginning.

This is all old news isn't it?

The "best" video (the one with the most Katharine singing in it) is to be found by clicking the Kathairne McPhee link over on the right under "Most popular stories" which takes you to this page where you can then click the link to see the good video. It has a lot more singing than the commecial ones. Probably the same one that diff posted.

You are correct the best video of Kat is on the website under Stories.

*shrug* I have both the commercial videos in MOV format saved on August 20th, taken from this website. Anyway, as long as more people are exposed to them - good!

OK Simon, here's something new for ya then. Better than the MOV!

TV cap of commercial "1"
Edit-: Removed link. There's a better version. Look below

National Geographic channel
digital 528x480 source

IVTC version. no wait gotta come up with a less technical term like CRB suggested....

"Restored film" version. How's that?

Thanks luv4llntkm for the heads up on the TV campaign!

Edit+
Version 3, CNN video, NGEO audio
704x480 source
