Got this from a good poster at IDF. The scoop on the Elliott/Kat duet. Hi, everybody. I got to talk to Elliott last night after his latest concert. He told me that the duet that he and Kat have on Randy Jackson's CD is called "Real Love". It's an original song. Kat recorded her vocals first, and then Elliott recorded his. They were not together in the studio. He doesn't know when it will be released. Maybe someone else does and I missed it. Elliott asked me to give all of Kat's fans a shoutout. Amazon shows the CD is out Jan 29th. I am so looking forward to this duet. My 2 favs from season 5 together!!
This is very common these days. Interaction is great but with scheduling and stuff most duets are done this way. The technology lends itself to it. Hey the Sinatra, Reba, and Bennett duet CD's were probably all done seperately.

I can see both of them singing this. Not thrilled with the song ; I hope Randy came up with a better arrangement.
The Sinatra duets from the early 1990s were done separately. Tony Bennett's might have been recorded together, though - there was that NBC/PBS special with him singing together with his collaborators.
I think it's the kind of song that really does stick in your head, and I can hear both Kat and Elliott sounding great doing it together. Can't wait until it's released!
More info on this song.
It was actually written by someone else and was recorded for Ice Age 2. But his myspace says he is working with Kat and Randy Jackson so it looks like this is it.
http://www.myspace.com/remeedk Current collaborations/songs on the way: Ne-Yo, Angie Stone, Cathrine Mcphee, Randy Jackson, Monrose, Shayne Ward, Cinema Bizarre, Corbin Bleu and many more ... It's gonna be a hot Winter too!
This song has been recorded and released before by British singer Lee Ryan early 2006. The song was used in Ice Age 2, hence the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpkGQ9Wa1Qk
Thanks to Kevin and Tina at IDF for great research on this.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting very confused about all this. First off, why would Elliott say it's an original song if it's already been recorded by others? Isn't that a contradiction? {scratching head}

Thanks Bill.
Great stuff!!! I can't wait to here Kat and Eliott together!
Boy, that must set a record for the worst butchering of Kat's name though!
Thanks for that at least partial explanation. LOL.
Here is a review of the Trinity Stone/Ne Yo version. This reviewer sees this song as a possible hit! I can actually see this doing very well IF and it is a big IF they release it as asingle and on a CD with Mariah on it giving a single to a Kat/Elliott duet will be very difficult.
Trinity Stone Feat Ne-Yo Real Love Single Review Talented UK female act Trinity Stone come with a strong, smooth, melodic, slice of soulful driven R&B that has a cross over appeal. A track that offers the kind of cross over quality that Eternal turned out for fun at their peak. Ne-Yo adds a certain something to the cut with a strong performance and in honest they compliment each other vocally. I know Trinity have been knocking on the doors for a while so I don't know if this was a track that they recorded a few years back before Ne-yo made it or whether it is something they put together more recently. Either way it's a good track that deserves to be and should be a hit For Trinity Stone. Real Urban Appeal 4/5 Hit Appeal 4/5 Bigger

I was half-joking about the lying comment.
That Lee Ryan video is kind of cheesy. I'm kind of bummed that the ASCAP list didn't turn out to be true - I'd prefer "If Not for Love" over this discovery. Song choice, Randy, song choice! But hopefully Kat and Elliott can make it work.
Thanks to uplink2 & the researchers!
This sounds like a cool song; sure to be an amazing duet for Kat and Elliott!!!
