Anyone have any suggestions on an affordable video capture card that is easy to use, install, comes with software, etc, so vhs tapes can be digitized?

A  DVD recorder will do the same thing.  Shady bought one for analog tranfers from his cable box.  It  records an mpeg file that you can move over to the computer.

My All-In-Wonder video card can capture but I've never used it for that purpose.

so hook a dvd recorder up to vcr or do you hook it up to the tv and play the video on the tv?

You would take the VIDEO OUT and R/L AUDIO OUT  from the VHS and plug them directly into the DVD recorders corresponding INPUTS  and record from the LINE IN rather than from the DVR recorders tuner.  You wouldn't want to go through the TV if you could help it.   You could use it to cue up the tape to the right spot though, if you are just recording small parts of a longer program.

I'm sure that there are PCI cards that you could plug into a computer too, I just don't have experience with them.   There are external boxes that do the same thing and hook up through the USB ports, but again I've never used one.
