Here is a direct link
Wow - beautiful, thank you!
Hmm, Washington, DC, where the Beatles played their first American concert....
What reminded me of that was at the very end of the tape where Katharine gives what I call her "goofy laugh", the deep "huh huh" one, and that makes the crowd scream, just like they did when a Beatle shook his head or said something in Liverpudlian...
We first fell in love with Katharine during her audition. Now for her first appearance after a long (3 whole weeks!) absence we are just as moved by her as she experiences the same emotions with facial expressions, gestures and tears that we found so lovable way back then (Almost a year ago!).
Then she was being vindicated by 3 judges.
Now she is being vindicated by the whole world...
The circle is complete.
It's starting to remind me of what I used to hear about Ella Fitzgerald - for her entire life her performances would be interrupted by fans shouting out "ELLA! WE LOVE YOU!". I can see that happeneing for Kat, she is such an intimate performer you just want to give something back.
KATHARINE! WE LOVE YOU!

TREMENDOUS find, Hawk, Thank You!
What a pleasure it was to watch this. Kat's voice may not have been at full power, although she worked very well within her limits, I thought.
What IS at full power in this performance is her absolutely infectious charm. It was wonderful to see her work the crowd and even get the musicians involved! lol And the crowd gave her a terrific response as well! You could just see in Kat's eyes her joy at being back ... and then to see that overflow in her outpouring of emotion absolutely got me right here (points to heart). This clip should be shown to her doubters. If they don't change their minds after seeing that, forget it. There's NO hope.
PS Kudos to whoever manned the camera, who did a great job of keeping Kat in frame and who also remembered to BE QUIET during the taping so that we could hear Kat instead of the camera operator! Good direction, said the film critic!

Thanks for posting. This was so wonderful! Hearing the tremendous outpouring of love she was getting from the audience, I was crying right along with her. I'm sure every night is going to be an emotional love fest like this for the remainder of the Idols tour and when she gets out on the road on her own as well.
And she really displayed a comfortable rapport with the audience, interacting with them during the song, saying "here we go" taking the song into the chorus with its roller coaster bassline ride, and "come on" and "sing it" - turning the mic toward them for the "oh-no" part. This is one of the qualities that she said she really admired in Taylor and she is clearly showing now a greater confidence and boldness in connecting with the audience directly.
The power and edge that is missing right now from her voice, she more than makes up for with her artistry - the jazzy, soulful stylings and runs that she added here for example (in the little scat she laid down just before she pointed the mic in the box drummer's face, she made her voice sound almost like a flute - incredible!
) - all beautiful colors that she keeps on her artist's palette and provide her with wonderfully intricate expression. These along with the sheer tonal quality of her vocals make up the vast majority of the facets this beautiful diamond of a voice. The power notes and edgy growls that will soon make their way back into her performances make up some of the remaining facets of this diamond. And the diamond that is her voice makes up only one facet of the greater, gleaming, brilliant, vibrant diamond that is Katharine Hope McPhee.
Way to go Kat!!!!!!!!

Wow, Jasmine...thanks for posting that. We bow at the feet of the person who managed to get close-ups like this as if you were right there. It's exactly what we were waiting for.
This also answers some questions I had last night. One, was when Kat stopped and laughed at one point during the song. It turns out that it was her interacting with one of the musicians and a big hearty "No" (hopefully not serious
) from one of them during the 'No, No, No' chorus. Kudos, at least, to 'AI' for hiring some real musicians there so Kat could interact with them. That's always important in a stage performance to create interest.
Yes, Kat's open emotions there really touches you deeply. She almost burst out crying, but controlled herself. This is a keeper video in every sense of the word. It's her looking at the giant road ahead of a career only dreams are made of.
This was also definitely the complete version of 'BHatCT.' She does the repeat chorus with different lyrics, which is great to finally hear Kat do after being stuck in that 90-second box.
Now if we could get one this close of 'OtR', the feeling of being there last night will be complete.

Simply wonderful footage!! Thanks so much.
I tell you, I was simply overcome by emotion watching that. What an incredible, megawatt
star. What a throwback to the days when elegant, simple beauty and talent were the coin of the realm.
What honest, genuine emotion.
Katharine could, indeed, start a whole new trend. Who would YOU rather have as a role model for your daughter?
