Katharine McPhee has a new man in her life
We'd heard the rumors, but on their first public outing at the Clive Davis party on Saturday night, our suspicions were confirmed. We're referring to the dynamic duo of Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee and her new manager, Guy Oseary, better known as Madonna's behind-the-scenes maestro. The two hooked up, figuratively speaking, a couple months ago and Kat, who was previously handled by Irving Azoff (Christina Aguilera), couldn't be happier. ''Guy is amazing,'' she told us excitedly. ''He's all about strategy and attention to detail — we're in it together for the long haul.'' So far, so good. Kat's debut album has moved almost 200,000 copies in two weeks.

I think this could be a good step, either manager seems good, but if Kat likes the idea, so do I.

For a minute, I thought Kat was suddenly in trouble. And then I realize that Kat was smart enough to have business dealings with this guy...



^That photo was taken at the Clive party before the Grammys--so now you have visual representation of who the people are in Kat's business circles now.

From all indications, I agree with Kat that GO is probably the best choice for her manager. He has some of the best connections in the industry...and working under Madonna's wing obviously contributed to that. Growing up in Madonna's inner world was probably worthy of a tell-all book (let's hope it doesn't happen)--but Guy Oseary apparently truly apprenticed under M's guidance and her world. What matters here, though, is what these people can do for Katharine and her career. And, in that regard, he'll probably be a central figure in getting her some good parts in movies, TV shows or anything else. I wonder if he was instrumental in getting her on the lonelygirl15 thing?

Now Kat has the strongest showbiz team working for her than just about anybody in the business. Of course, Kat has to ultimately give the final word on some projects...but at least she'll have just about anything she desires doing placed at her doorstep and then go from there. Hopefully he'll advise her to put a mail slot on the door, too, so weird people won't go up to her door and snatch a package containing a valuable script...
