I can't get my scanner to work so I'll just give you the list and what it says about Katharine.

1. Carrie Underwood
2. Kelly Clarkson
3. Clay Aiken
4. Jennifer Hudson
5. Chris Daughtry
6. Fantasia
7. Ruben Studdard
8. Taylor Hicks
9. Katharine McPhee
10. Justin Guarini

About Katharine: “Season 5’s No. 2 finisher, 23, has blamed her first single for the fact that her January debut hasn’t sold “crazy numbers”.

My thoughts: I”d go Carrie, Kelly, Jennifer (Oscar!), Clay, Chris, Fantasia, Ruben, Katharine (the Hollywood “itness” means something and pushes her past Taylor), Taylor, Kellie P. With Elliott at #11. Justin Guarini? Huh?

I can’t put Kat ahead of anyone else because they’ve all sold millions of albums.

"I saw Katharine McPhee when there were about 12 contestants left on American Idol. She blew me away. I loved her grace, her style, her poise, her voice and her hair! I wanted her to be the face of Sexy Hair because she represented everything that I had in my head for the brand: youth, beauty, talent, class, a young sophistication, and sexiness." -- Jim Morrison, CEO of Sexy Hair Products.

Hmmmmm. I kinda have to take issue with Justin being number 10. Until his addition as a correspondent on the TV Guide channel, he really hasn't done as much as the others, including Katharine. Where in the heck is Kimberly Caldwell on the list? She isn't singing as much as she used to, but is super high profile with her segments on "Idol Chat" and "Idol Tonight" on the TV guide channel.

The advantage Kat has over most of them is that she is multi-talented, like Kimberly Caldwell. Most of them are a one-trick pony. Give it a year or even less and Kat will be edging towards the top of the list.

Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks are more successful idols than Katharine? i have an issue with that one. and where is Kimberly Caldwell on that list is right? Justin, how did he even make the list. something is wrong here with this list.

This list is incorrect. Kelly Clarkson has sold more albums AND downloads then Carrie Underwood, and that's not even considering she has sold more then 6 million albums internationally, while Carrie has not even ventured out of the US as of yet.

I find it so funny how people are so easy to judge people they don't know, but think they have the right to scrutinize others because those "others" are celebrities. From Britney Spears to Katharine McPhee radio hosts and magazines will always make unfair statements and allegations. I am fans of both Britney and Katharine, two totally different artists, but I find that whether you are a icon or a promising newcomer from a hit reality show, the punches and jabs will come and never stop...but I have news for the haters, they won't stop either so you can take your opinions and give them to people that care, because the fans are like, SO over it.

What criteria are used to measure success? If it's essentially units sold,to me that is not accurate and therefore, not at all fair.I would guess name recogition, press coverage, net buzz, Billboard charting andyoutube/itunes hits would be factors that should be considered in the mix in addition to units sold!Who has even heard about Ruben up until the AI6 appearance?Same with Taylor. And what about the intangible element of potential?Kat will be up there with Kelly and Carrie;especially with her film debut!!

I think Kelly has sold more than any of them, so she is #1. However, some might argue that a golden globe award AND an oscar trump grammy's and american music awards.....if so.....Jen Hudson wins (proving you can be #7 and still do GREAT - so who cares about winning?)......all sales are listed under American Idol Wikipedia, including a list of all awards - but - singles are measured differently than cd's.

It's all subjective.  I think you could argue Kelly vs Carrie at #1 all day long.  I think Jennifer Hudson has to be #3 with her awards from Dreamgirls.  I'd put Clay & Chris at #4 & #5 in some order.  Then it gets interesting.  I think you could make a case for Katharine at #6.  But I'll give Fantasia that spot and put Kat at #7 for now.

Two years from now there's no way she's behind anybody other than maybe Kelly, Carrie & Chris.

Kelly is #1. She had the 5th biggest album worldwide last year. She probably sold 12 million. And that's not counting her 1st album. Carrie has only sold 6, which is still phenomenal. Daughtry should be #3, or he will be soon.

the list is somewhat accurate, except Justin Guarini, Taylor Hicks, and Ruben Studdard should be nowhere on there.
