Good to see the rest of the interview after the preview last week. Thanks, Minnie, for posting that from Kat-Media.

And, to respond to Kat's quote about wanting to be a new Barbara Streisand: Time for Babs to finally meet Kat and pass the torch on to her. Sure, she passed the torch to Celine once...but Barbara has a lot of torches in her Malibu compound. We know Babs likes Kat (based on her comments hearing the cuts of Kat's 'SOTR' last summer)--but so far no tea for two yet.

All in all, Kat is very much in the position to be a new Barbara Streisand if she plays her cards right. And she's obviously playing the showbiz game as carefully as a poker player or chess player plans their strategy. This news of her debuting in an indie film (produced by Nick's company) is as smart as you can get. I'm predicting that movie to get a lot of attention for her performance. Because it's a showcase of the central character--Kat can demonstrate to the world what she can do. Prepare to see her winning at least some minor (or major) acting awards in another year or two.

Interesting to note that the Scientology guy she dated was an "old Broadway actor." The way Kat said old--it sounded like he was older than Nick is--which isn't old at all. But that was a weird situation--especially that purification process. Ironic that an "old" man asks for her autograph in the coffeehouse where the interview's being done.

Yes, just like Barbara Streisand: Kat will have 10 year-olds and 80 year-olds intermingling at all her future concerts. Let's hope there's peace.

Good to see Kat tackling her singing diversity problem head-on. She realizes that she's stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to finding her true musical identity. Frankly, I find her diversity refreshing and not that much of a problem. The only problem is the nature of people who expect every person to be just ONE thing rather being good at a lot of things...

Thanks for posting this, Minnie. It sounds like the strategy will now be to try to appear in a movie (or two) without giving up the musical aspirations completely. If she can appear in a high-grossing vehicle, then release her second album, it should spell success for Katharine. The Adam Sandler project she mentioned may be just the thing for starters.
