Jordin was awesome last night! ..so good she made Simon want to jump off a bridge, haha!  I seriously don't get these judges sometimes ..always talking about emoting, and then when someone sings a sad song and makes them feel that emotion they criticize?  Maybe I'm misreading Simon, but I took it as a negative comment.  For me it was easily the best performance of the season so far.

Katatonic Fan calling Sanjaya "unclassifiable" =   Howard Stern is campaigning hard for this guy.  He took several calls this morning from people reporting how many votes they got in for ole Sanjo ..and yesterday he did a phone interview with the owner of VFTW.com.  You can definitely feel the momentum building in his fans voting to keep Sanjaya in it as long as possible.  It's time for TPTB to pull the trigger and invoke their right to override the public vote on this one for the sake of the shows credibiltiy, even though at this point it is pretty well known where all these votes are coming from.

Random thoughts:  Both Phil and Lakisha have great vocal ability, but neither do anything for me.  I leave Melinda out of this group because I have enjoyed some of her performances, but not last nights..  Blake and his beat-boxing can be awesome at times, but he does need to be careful not to overdo it.  Gina's trying hard to please the judges, and I think it's actually hurting her right now.  Is it just me or does Haley sound a lot like Olivia Newton John?  Stephanie is forgettable.  Richardson is 'aight.  Sligh is bringing chubby back!

Jordin owns season VI.

i don't think anyone young on this board would say Blake's style is "getting old". I think it's the coolest thing to happen to Idol ever. And it's not just his beatboxin'....he flows like Michael Jackson. You don't want to watch THAT? Some of you are sad, really. Blake is the coolest, hippest one in the bunch.

Spree - I was waiting on you, lol.  I knew you would get ticked at those comments.  He definitely is the "coolest, hippest one" in the bunch and will be marketable as hell.  Also, I know someone who ran into him and Chris Sligh at the Cheesecake Factory last week and they said he is a hottie (I know Steph, the Brown Nosers friend, will like hearing that).  Okay, Steph - you've definitely earned some brownie points you're a "McBlake" fan.  Also, Kat said she likes Blake too - so we're all in good company.

I know I'm late but here it is:

Screen Name: Misha515

1. Melinda Doolittle
2. LaKisha Jones
3. Blake Lewis
4. Jordin Sparks
5. Chris Sligh
6. Chris Richardson
7. Gina Glocksen
8. Sanjaya Malakar
9. Phil Stacy
10. Haley Scarnato
11. Stephanie Edwards

Hi Misha515,  You submitted your Top 12 last week; however, I had to throw out your selection of Brandon because you submitted it after the deadline.  Just so you know, the Top 12 selections can not be changed.  Each week; however, you will submit your selection of who you think will be eliminated on each Tuesday by 2 p.m. PDT / 5 p.m. EDT.  Also, if you do not submit your selection by the deadline, then your entry will be whoever you selected on your Top 12 selection -  this rule applies to everyone, based on that; your selection for this week was Haley.  I hope that makes sense.    Feel free to post any questions you may have.

I must say something about Lakisha Jones. Lakisha is head to head with Melinda in this competition. Both of them singing Shirley Bassey on top 11 performances. WOW! Fantastic! I'm a big fan of Shirley Bassey and both Melinda and Lakisha.
At the beginning of the season, my best choices were Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin, Blake and Sundance. Then I was surprised Sundance got the boot so early. I thought that was a very big mistake. Upon review of the videos and mp3's, I made up my mind and I'm putting back Lakisha to number 2 spot next to Melinda. Lakisha is a solid vocalist and can be in the finals, no doubt. Jordin has a lot of potential and is improving by the week and coming close to be on top 3 with Melinda and Lakisha. Sorry, now, I'm putting Blake on 4th place. Blake's vocals are not as nearly convincing as Melinda's or Lakisha's. He's a great performer, though, with his innovations and dance moves and I still support him-- he's from my state.

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Here are my predictions:

screenname: shinamarih
AI boot-ee this week: Sanjaya Malakar (God, I do hope he really goes this week.)

1. Melinda
2. Jordin
3. Lakisha
4. Blake
5. Chris R.
6. Stephanie
7. Chris S.
8. Gina
9. Haley
10. Phil
11. Sanjaya

Is this right? Joe? Co?

Yes, that's good.  You got a "zero" for last week so you're "penalized" I guess but now you're good.  You still get credit for the points you had in the semifinal rounds.

Misha, I have your picks recorded from last week so I'll go with those.  And it looks like Co had you down for Haley going home before this week's performances so we'll go with that as well.

OK, now that I've gotten the book keeping out of the way here are my thoughts about last night's Idol performances.

I've already professed my love for Jordin here so...no one will ever replace Katharine for me but I do love me some Jordin Sparks.  That performance reminded me of some of Katharine's better ones.  Kind of had a "Someone To Watch Over Me" feel to it.  A little different kind of song but just how I felt about it afterward.

I just don't get Lakisha I guess.  I'm not going to tell you that she isn't a great singer.  Of course she is!  But it takes more than that to win American Idol.  And she just doesn't have IT.  What's her thing you can grab onto aside from the big voice?  We've seen big voice singers before get eliminated way before they should before.  I think that's going to happen to Lakisha.  She doesn't have that endearing quality to her that Melinda does.  And naturally the two of them get lumped together because of their style and that they are older than the other females left.

Blake's the top guy without a doubt.  Although I think Chris Richardson's going to be around longer than I predicted.  I forget where I put him.  Top Six will probably be Jordin, Melinda, Lakisha, Blake and the two Chris's at this point.

Yeah, I put Chris R at #7...had Gina in the Top Six.  If I could adjust that now, I would.

Someone else I'd adjust upward is Haley.  I think she's figured out that she's got to take advantage of her looks if she wants to stick around.  She's a decent singer but she can't hold a candle to the other girls on the show.  So what do you do?  Well....America, meet Haley's fantastic legs!  And add a little jiggle factor to the performance as well.  I almost felt like Tyra last night watching her, "I could see you jiggle when you walked out!"  Something about Haley's voice that falls a little flat but she'll be around a little while longer.

The people in trouble tonight are Phil & Stephanie.  It should be Sanjaya...I'm resigned to the fact that it probably won't be.  I hope it's Phil more than Stephanie but if you pressed me to pick...I'd say Stephanie is going home tonight.

Part of me was worried that Haley would fall out of that top.  Another part of me was worried that she wouldn't...

Great review Mattsie!  I agree with everything except, Sanjaya being most improved - he was better.  They all did seem to be a little more comfortable.  Haley looked adorable tonight, I think Simon got a little excited.   You forgot to add the little girl in the audience, that was just priceless during Sanjaya, and at the end of the show - it made for great TV.

Unfortunately, I think it may be Stephanie or Phil going home - I think Sanjaya may be on the tour.

Thanks for the comment, Co. Anyway, sorry, I forgot to mention the little girl, Ashley--she was Idol Star struck and it was really great for TV. I have enjoyed this week's performances. If I must add something, I'd like to say something about Stephanie. Between her and Phil, I think it's a toss up as to who will go home tonight. I like to keep the girl but she may not have been voted well last night based on the comments of the judges, although I disagree with Simon. It's really just a matter of who will go home next from hereon up to my choice of top 3, who I really care so much about, in this competition, anyway. But of course, it's great fun watching and hearing good vocalists like Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin. And, yes, I would pay to see these three perform.

We're getting all girls top 3, I believe. (same as the Fantasia-Digarmo-Trias year) But this year's all girls top 3 would be in a different league, by a mile. Year 2004 for AI would have been much better if Jennifer Hudson and LaToya London were on the top 3 with Fantasia Barrino. They were the better vocalists that year. Ciao...--mattsie

(FYI spree) I have always liked Blakes singing and beatboxin and thought he was the best
male. Believe me...if i didn't, he surely woulldn't be #3 on my list.
It's a singing competition!!!!!!!! And IMO he's over playin the beatbox part and i think it
might come back to bite him early. Got my opinion and you got yours!

I'm with you sjwolves!!Jordin is IT....she has the IT factor that is sorely lacking with Lakisha and Melinda!!The latter may be great vocalists, but especially Lakisha shows little emotion or command of the stage! Jordin has animation, passion, personality and she's beautiful to boot!As for Haley, her voice lacks power and projection and legs do not a singer make!!She's such a Kat wannabe....not even close!!Jordin and Blake in the final 2!!!!!!
