I see Co's changed the date on this to Thursday. Good. It'll just be easier to collect everyone's selections if you can do the guys & girls together in one post.
Here's the basic outline of what we'll need from everyone (and Co if you want to move this up...go for it. You are the leader of this...I'm your able assistant that'll keep track of results and all of that sort of thing).
This is all we need:
1) By Thursday afternoon, we need you to give us the four contestants you think are going home this week. That's it.
2) Then by next Tuesday afternoon we want you to submit your predicted Top 12 in the order you think they will finish. We're giving you one week of performances to decide. It's all about first impressions and figuring out who's got it from just this week.
Got it? I'm working on a scoring system for this. I'm trying not to make it too complicated but I want it to reward the person who makes the best picks 1-12, not just getting the winner right (although that'll be the most important pick obviously). Thanks to everyone who wants to participate. It'll be fun.
This post is for the Semi-finals Round 1 of the AI 6 Pool
Please post your screen name and the four people (two males/two females) who you think will be eliminated this week (copy & paste the text below into your post) - selections due by Thursday, Feb. 22 by 12 p.m. PST / 3 p.m. EST. Your screen name and selections will be copied/pasted on this post shortly after the deadline.
Screen Name: Barlo Males: Rudy & Sundance Females: Alaina & Antonella
Screen Name: ASiriusObsession Males: Paul & Nick Females: Antonella & Nicole

After conferring with Co...I think we're going to do "elimination picks" for two weeks before selecting your Top 12.
So we'll need picks on who you think is going home by Thursday afternoon this week & next week and THEN a predicted Top 12 (in order) by the following Tuesday.
The scoring for this section will be simple. You get one point for every correct pick of people going home the next two weeks. After that...still working on what's best for the Top 12 part.
Oh, and yeah the guys were pretty bad. The girls need to be much better. I think there were at least four guys last year that were better than the best last night in their first performances. At least four. Possibly more. I thought eight people could win after the first week last year with Kat & Chris as co-favorites. I'm not sure if any of the guys can win at this point. That was uninspiring and almost boring.
Best part of the show was another diss of Taylor by mentioning Carrie, Chris, Katharine and Jennifer Hudson when asking Simon if there's any added pressure because of how well they are doing. And then "Not Ur Girl" playing at the end of the show again. Those were my highlights. I kept thinking the whole time, "Wow...we were spoiled last year." And "Katharine's so much better than all of these guys!"...if this is what we have...I'm not going to Idols Tour 2007.
Yes, please refrain from going to Dial Idol. For Rounds 1 and 2, people will list the four people going each week, and for each person they predicted correctly they will receive 1 point. For Round 3 and the Top 12, selections will have to be made on Tuesdays. Joe will be doing his best to keep people honest and we hope people can avoid the temption of Dial Idol.
Posting here my recap of last night's AI performances..As you may realize, I'm from the other side of the world, so this is a bit late my US friends, but for those in the SE Asian region..this is just in time..right? Hehe..
Was it just nerves? Or were they really bad?
At last night's American Idol 6 top 12 male performance show, judge Simon Cowell was especially grumpy than usual and for good reason. Relating to last year's top 12 performance, the males of this season pale hugely in comparison to Taylor, Chris, Elliott, Ace, and yes, even Bobby Bennett. Here's my rundown on the top 12 performances last night:
1. Rudy Cardenas - Nothing like great energy to start off the show. But man, I was straining to understand a thing he was singing! He did sound awfully a lot like Steve Perry. If he wanted to have that Journey vibe, he definitely nailed it with last night's performance. But the singing? Not quite.
2. Brandon Rogers - I was really expecting him to do a song that matches his low raspy voice, but he totally surprised me by picking a Michael Jackson track. I thought it was okay in a really weird way. I don't know, I guess because he took on a new spin on the song, I liked it.
3. Jason Sundance Head - I am including his other first name so that people will still remember him not just by Sundance. I thought the song choice was really bad and the performance was stale and uninspired. I am still wishing Tommy made it, and with this performance, I am regretting Paula ever letting him through.
4. Paul Kim - Just when I thought Sundance was bad, in comes Paul doing a classic George Michael track. And he did not fail...to disappoint even more. It was pitchy and all over the place. I really thought he had one of the best voices and I wanted to pull for him, you know, Asian pride and all that, but now I'm second guessing my decision after that performance.
5. Chris Richardson - I don't think he's related to former boybander Kevin Richardson (Backstreet Boys) and yet, during the audition rounds, he was told he looked like another boybander Justin Timberlake. His own take on the Gavin de Graw monster hit, I Don't Wanna Be sounded just like Timberlake trying hard to "rock" out. And oddly more so, I think he sounded like a rat. I, however, liked the different arrangement on the track and if the vocal was better, he may just be right up there with Bo Bice (season 4) and Elliott Yamin (season 5) who also did fantastic takes on the song.
6. Nicholas Pedro - What a romantic sounding name. He chose a romantic song too, but the performance? Almost cringe-worthy. Don't get me wrong, I like Nick and his tenacity to come back and try again, but when I get out of my seat, during an American Idol performance, that doesn't bode well for the performer who's on. I believe Nick can still "wow" me with his talents, but he needs to step it up next week, if given the chance...again.
7. Blake Lewis - I thought he killed it during the Hollyweird group performances. Who knew a ballad softie like "How Deep is Your Love?" can be funky and groovy? All thanks to his amazing beatboxing. (Justin Timberlake, eat his dust!) My boy definitely got it goin' on. And so it was a pleasant surprise for me when he did the Keane track. It showed a whole new dimension of him and he truly delivered when he said in his opening spiel that he's definitely bringing the singing into the show. Brought it he did. Best performance of the night IMO.
8. Sanjaya Malakar - Oh goodness, maybe I expected too much from this sweet lookin' guy, I don't know, but I was really disappointed in him. All the time during his performance I was grunting and making weird sounds because that's what he lacked; grit, energy. Where was the charming little firecracker I saw at the auditions? He was definitely not on the AI stage last night.
9. Chris Sligh - I still cannot believe he made it this far and most especially I still cannot get over how good he really sounds. I don't know the song to begin with though I think he really performed it well. He just needs to work on his stage persona, because other than during those moments when he raises his hands, he was like a stiff tree on stage.
10. Jared Cotter - Four words. Brian McKnight rip off. Sorry guys, but he didn't do much with the song for me. The ending sounded rushed, really weird, but I do believe he has great potential and if America gives him a chance next week, he better step it up.
11. A.J. Tabaldo - Excuse me for being a bit bias about A.J., but this was the first time I fully heard him sing and I have to say, he's kind of better than last year's lone Pinoy contender, Sway Penala. I'm not quite familiar with the song, but I think he did it pretty well. Loved his stage e
