Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

I think Haley's going home. If I had been actively voting, I'd be torn whether to do it this week, as the judges have unnecessarily cruel to her (like last week, when Randy and Paula took out their anger about her pre-performance Q&A with their post-performance sarcasm), and I wouldn't want her to be continually subjected to that type of treatment.

Blake was the best. Right now, with 30 min remaining to vote, the bottom 2 are Jordin and Lakisha.

^Yep, I still have that gut feeling Lakisha's going tomorrow night as another unexpected shocker. Too late to change my vote now (yes, I'll learn to go with my sixth sense starting next week)--though perfect logic would have either Phil or Haley going home. I have to say that Lakisha would have to be within the bottom three performances of the night though. We all knew Latin wouldn't be her strongest forte. She did ok covering Gloria Estefan, but not spectacular as everybody has to be at this stage of the competition.

And now for the big mystery of the night: Was Sanjaya's Latinesque goatee actually real or drawn in by a makeup artist? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Sanjaya was actually pretty good tonight, despite apparently being too young to grow his own facial hair. I've always said that he'd be competition worthy if he just focused more on his stage presence and projecting his voice. He's finally doing that a little more each week. But, he won't win this thing. Sure, he'll likely make Top Five, though no further than that. These gimmicks start to get old for even the most bored of people (i.e. Howard Stern) after a while.

As a side note: It's probably a good thing Sanjaya's sister didn't make it into the competition now after those nude pictures turned up of her on the net this last week. Nonetheless, I think she has the better voice and stage presence. I couldn't comprehend it when they knocked her and picked Sanjaya in the Seattle auditions. Now we know 'AI' was looking for someone to fill the role-playing slot of the freak or mocked second-rate singer. Did they really know he'd be like that, though, before the competition started?

I agree the best of the night was definitely Melinda, Blake and Jordin. Jordin came close to not having one of her best performances...even though she always sounds amazing. It shows that performing Latin is harder than it looks. Blake was wise to pick the more familiar, contemporary material. Even so, it seemed most of the material picked was either a hit 40, 30 or 20 years ago. And no J.Lo songs at all? Nobody picking her songs was enough to make her hurt someone with her large posterior...

Why is everyone knocking Lakisha? I think she did just fine considering that Spanish anything is certainly not her forte. She looked the part, sang with perfect pitch and moved well. I disagree with Paula and Simon who both said she chose a 'safe' Lakisha song. The song was way out of her usual element and she pulled it off. IMO it was a train wreck for both Haley and Phil. Sanjaya, well, he just looked like he hasn't bathed in about a month. I'm really tired of the Sanjaya controversy, I can take a joke as well as anybody. In fact, kudos to the producers for creating good TV. He gets more buzz than any of the others. They have already guaranteed that Sanjaya will not win Idol, so I have decided to laugh with them. As long as somebody like Melinda is not eliminated while he stays. I don't think Lakisha is going home just yet. In a week where nobody was particularly great, it's always difficult to predict elimination. Like almost everybody else, I picked Phil to go home, but I think Haley was worse. The leg thing has become boring. The way she pranced around last night, it was obvious she has no grace and in fact looked klutzy in spots.

I liked her performance--but my comments above just reflected who excelled the greatest in that genre tonight. And because all logic seems to indicate that people who shouldn't go early are...that's why I get a sense there that she could be going tomorrow night or the next week. Also, I'm getting a better sense how DialIdol works now (when I once dissed it a year ago)...and it's getting alarmingly accurate lately. What a perfect way to create drama tomorrow night having Jordin and Lakisha in the Bottom Two...with Lakisha going home. Of course, I can't really believe Jordin is going to be in the Bottom Two. They'll probably place her there just to create the tension. The same thing happened with Kat...and there's no definitive proof she really was in the bottom ranks those weeks. 'AI' never will reveal the realities of their voting totals each week.

Kudos to the costume department tonight, incidentally, for coming up with some perfect Latin wardrobe that still reflected the style of the artist. Some great looks going on there on most of the contestants.

Oh, and according to that silly 'Idolatry' show from EW...Phil looks like Nosferatu the vampire now.  Everybody knows Nosferatu can't do Latin without burning up in the sun...so hopefully people voted accordingly.

All kidding aside, this was one of the stronger nights so far. ALL of these people are good people and are going to likely get recording contracts in time. Ditto for the ones already eliminated such as Gina.

I still feel that Jordin and Blake are the ones to beat!!Jordin just puts more pizazz into every performance....her joy and personality shining through!!As with Kat last season,Jordin seems to be getting more attractive with each passing week!!!Enjoyed the donkey ears she put on Ryan at the end of the show!Agreed with Paula and Simon re: Lakisha...she didn't have it last night, but at least she finally tried moving around the stage. She does not seem to infuse her numbers with personality...and therefore is not exciting. If Haley does not go home, will she be in a string bikini next week???No,Haley...this is not the Miss America pageant!!!!!!!!

It is unusual that I consult with Dialidol, but today it looks very possible that Lakisha could get the boot. She may not have been as good as usual, But who was? What a strange season.

Wow, dialidol is predicticting another nail-biter tonight! It's too close to call, with only Blake definately safe. So anybody could go home tonight. Unfortuanately, the bottom 2 are Lakisha and Jordin, followed by Chris and Sanjaya. Most of us picked Phil or Haley, and they came in #3 and #4, but due to margin of error are still in danger of leaving. I'm agreeing with Greg here about Lakisha. I always predicted her leaving early, just not quite this early, and certainly not before Sanjaya and Haley.

No real standouts last night. Jordan's performance was a bit uneven in the beginning - her facial expression at one point suggested that she had messed up the lyrics. But she was still the most appealing.

Haley made a fool of herself - the Vegas strip-show lighting at the beginning of her performance was fitting. And let me tell you, she doesn't look so good in big screen high def. I thought Simon was unneccessarily cruel, however.

I've been boosting Chris lately, but he was horribly weak - you can hear Rob Thomas doing it in your head and Chris wasn't even close. J-Lo counseled him to take it up a whole step, but I think he disregarded her advice. Too bad, because his forte is that upper range.

Question about Blake - did he Botox before his number?

Some weeks are great (last week) and some aren't. Last night was a dud that really proved nothing, other than latino music is really hard to pull off.

Tonight's result could be very surprising, or it won't...

Bill, I have felt all along that Lakisha will be the "shocker" this year but my prediction has been week 5 with Blake, Jordin, Melinda and Sanjaya making the Top 4. I have felt that Haley, Phil and Chris would be the the next three to go but it doesn't really matter the order. They will milk the Sanjaya factor as long as possible as that is the ONLYT story this year because they all basically stink, are boring, have no personality and are totally unengaging the audience. I will be very curious to see how terrible the ticket sales will be for the tour.

But on to my predictions, Botton 3 Phil, Haley and possibly Lakisha. To go probably Phil. Simon's overboard comments will keep Haley around for another week. And actually I'm happy about that, she is the only one I want to "watch". lol

On a side note but does anyone else feel that Chris's voice sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard? I'm sorry to his fans (my daughter but only for his looks) but I find his voice very very annoying and he was horrible last night. Not even close to a Lounge singer version of Rob Thomas.

Quick update,  my pool peeps!

I just entered all the selections and if you didn' t select anyone by yesterday's deadline;  the rule is whoever you selected in that week's spot from your "Divine Nine" selections, i.e. - 8th place for tonight will be your weekly selection.   So, with that stated, Kate4chrisandKat, katbball_06 and Vadia, your selections were Sanjaya and Haley, respectively.

It looks like I will be eating my words as I thought we wouldn't have a fourth week of an elimination shocker, but I think Lakisha will be out tonight.  Props to Barlo for picking her, and going with your intuition; if that is the case.  I think Haley and Phil will be safe again.  Phil must be getting that military vote because the judges slam him week-after-week and he is boring, but someone keeps saving him.  I wanted to beyotch-slap Simon for his rude comment to Haley, regardless if she is working the leg thing, that remark was uncalled for.  I believe that pissed off a lot of people and they voted for her because of it.  Simon's been flat-out rude to Haley all season, with the exception of a few performances, so I feel for her, but if anything, at least she's getting a thicker skin because of it.

Latin Night was definitely challenging for the Elite Eight, but my boy, Blakie shined last night as did Jordin.  I loved the two of them together before the commercial break, a "Blake/Jordin Finale" could be really entertaining.  I also loved how J. Lo called in Blake to add some beat boxing for Haley during her  intro clip.   J. Lo  was quite charming and bonded with the contestants, and I just love her laugh.  J. Lo's good peeps, I really enjoyed her as the mentor.

Oh, and how can I forget to mention Sanjaya!  He was actually good, and I liked his peformance - perfect song choice for him.  I was actually quite taken with the sweet lad!

Kate, join the club - we've all been wrong!   My goodness, since we got to the Top 12 it's been crazy.  But, I do agree and think it'll be Lakisha going tonight.  At the rate this damn thing is going it may end up being Phil, Haley and Sanjaya as the Top 3 with Phil becoming the winner!  Oh, Lord - please tell me that won't happen.

Congratulations to Spree, Jes_suis, KatBBall_06 and V for picking Haley this week!  Also, it looks like some of us will get points for picking Haley in the 8th spot.  I guess I won't have to eat my words, as it wasn't a surprise elimination - the two divas stay.  Best of luck to Haley, I sure hope Simon was nice to her after the show.  I wish she would have made it to country week because I'm sure she would have done well with Martina McBride, but she'll do just fine.  She did exit the show gracefully, and put on a classy and fun farewell song - good luck Haley, you did Texas proud!

And having Haley going tonight proves a few points: DialIdol isn't always right (how did it report Lakisha being in the Bottom Three?), showing your gams can only take you so far...and I'm now officially out of contention in this pool due to mistakenly placing Haley at #5. Well, I thought Haley was improving when I did my Divine Nine to the point I thought she'd make the Top Five. Based on the last couple of weeks, that obviously wasn't the case.

Congratulations to those who wisely picked Haley to go tonight...

Well, I'll be going out on a limb more now for my future voting picks. Perhaps the eliminations will be a little more obvious now that we're down to three of the strongest and three of the weakest. But having three potential knock-offs makes it even more difficult who'll go first. I'd say picking Phil again next week will be the magic potion for finally getting some decent points. He's been consistently in the Bottom Three or Two recently, so it seems (in reality) to be a no-brainer for next week. Lakisha may or may not be vulnerable now. I've long suspected (right or wrong) 'AI' probably doesn't give the complete truth on who placed where. In that case, who knows where she ultimately was based on the voting totals. Those reports of Lakisha being in the Bottom Two were reported fairly early last night too, which means she may have moved up to fourth place by morning.

Interesting seeing Ryan out in the field interviewing public reactions to the show. Being L.A., it wasn't surprising that some people didn't even know what was going on. If L.A. is somewhat bored with what's going on...then others may be too. Though you have to admit the show is always interesting as a psychological experiment. It's fascinating to study the show now after knowing what's going on under the surface (thanks to Kat's revelations last year).

Ha, 5,000 submissions to the songwriting contest seems like a lot--but I expected more at this point considering how many people watch. I'm wondering if songwriting isn't as popular of an art form as it used to be--or there's just a lack of knowledge in many in doing it right. That shouldn't happen in the age of computer software making it easier to get it down on paper. Even so, you still have to know a little of what you're doing in order to make it legitimate. Well, I'll be submitting my demo and lyrics this weekend...

Seeing Sanjaya tonight--it's apparently obvious he really did grow his own facial hair and didn't have it drawn in with a Sharpie. Also, he's becoming a tool to create tension during the results show. He's just what the producers wanted when they consistently fill that role-playing slot each year.

Oh man!! I missed the results show tonight!! Somebody tell me what happened!! Who was in the bottom three, did Jennifer rock the house, how did Haley handle the exit? I'm all ears.

I'm sure a lot of male Idol fans were sorry to see Haley go. After all, she was the only "eye candy" this year!! LOL She gave some good performances but it seems like the judges were always very hard on her. Like Simon said, she did play the "looks" card but who could blame her. She was trying to stay in the competition against some powerhouse vocalists.

I think Lakisha has a great voice . . . but if I have to look at another sleeveless outfit with her mammoth bosom exposed, I may be forced to turn the channel!!! LOL She has revealed as much skin as anybody this year. Bottom line - Haley had the looks but she didn't have Kat's voice or versatility.

O.K. everyone - let's hear some other opinions on Season Six!!!! Speak your mind!!!

People are probably curious if J.Lo showcased her posterior tonight--but...NO...she just sang.

All kidding aside, I thought Jennifer Lopez was quite good tonight. I'm amazed at how magnetic of a performer she is. And putting Spanish songs into the mainstream is a good thing to create a more international flavor to the longtime over-Americanized pop charts.

Bottom Three were Phil, Haley and Chris--in that exact order. If you watch a recorded copy, you'll notice that Sanjaya is becoming a pawn on the elimination nights now. Ryan asked Sanjaya to stand up three times...and then sit down as many to create that psychological tension. Of course, those of us on to the 'AI' schemes knew damn good and well that he'd be safe. If Sanjaya's asked to stand up and sit down again next week...you know he's safe. When he's ignored--it's when he's finally going home. 'AI' WILL stretch that out and create the interest and drama as long as possible.

Haley was quite emotional--though I could tell she suspected it was her. After that comment from Simon last night about her playing up her gams, she probably realized the public would take it out on her. Though she held up well during her performance of 'Turn The Beat Around' by running out into the crowd again. Actually, that song is more 70's disco, isn't it? I've never considered that to be true Latin.

I have a feeling Haley will succeed in something within the entertainment business. Perhaps it'll be on Broadway or something similar--but all of these people will do reasonably well if they manage their careers right.

Jennifer Lopez was HOT last night. I thought Haley handled the elimination well, as if she was prepared for it. Yeah, they are milking the Sanjaya situation for all it's worth, but as the top 5 scenario nears, it's definitely time for him to go. Probable eliminees now are Phil, Chris and Sanjaya. That would take us to the top 4 of Melinda, Jordin, Blake and Lakisha. From that list, Lakisha is a possible casualty.

Jordin may not have the fitness magazine shape, but facially, she is miles ahead of Haley in beauty.  I find her smile and attitude "magnetic".

I won't miss Haley in the least - dime a dozen looks.

So Haley's legs & Kat's hair extensions finally go home.  Sad to see Kat's hair retired.  Maybe they can keep her in the trivia questions just to give us something.  Oh, I know the answer to the trivia this week!!!  I'm pretty sure I remember the epic pairing of Hicks & Meatloaf.  It was quite a sight.

Here's your scores.  We did have one person (Shina) get within one spot of getting Haley exactly right in the original picks.  So nice jump up the scoreboard there.

I'll include everyone's #7 at the bottom here.  Sorry I didn't get this up last night.  I'm a goofy hockey fan (no, I'm not that one...I don't stalk Katharine and say weird things.  sjwolves is not the sane, alterego of onegoal, bluesfan, etc, etc. in case you wanted to know).  Anyway, as I was saying.  We had quadruple OT action going when I got home last night and I just had to watch.  Plus, still buzzing a little over my Sharks winning in OT as well....I know no one cares but it's my recap of the week so just deal with my ramblings.  Thank you very much.  Then I had Idol to see...and by that time...I don't think I could have figured out these scores correctly.  So here we are....
