I think the only way American Idol can keep the ratings up over these last few weeks is to eliminate David Archueleta

David Archuleta blew me away tonight with his arrangement of "Love Me Tender". This boy is an original artist. He will take the prize home, I can feel it. He croons in perfect pitch and makes the song his own version. I don't quite like his version of "Stand by Me".

I love ya Mattsie, but I beg to differ . . . DAVID COOK should win this thing, I feel it.  American Idol needs a male winner that appeals to the masses - even my 74-yr. old mother digs him and wants him to win.  I started out strong on the David Archie bandwagon, but started getting bored with him because he's too much of an inspirational singing ballader aka a Josh Grobin Jr.  David Cook is very versatile and already looks comfortable and like a pro on stage.  He also can sing ballads and do them justice, I downloaded his "Music of the Night," and it gave me chills, boy can that man sing!!  He's also getting a lot more attractive and sexier as the competition goes on!

If we don't get Hillary for the Democratic nominee, please, please, please America pick the right winner of AI Season 7 - DAVID COOK!!

P.S.  This season I've really flip-flopped on my favorites.  So many of the contestants have stepped up to the plate and blossomed, this season.  Syesha and David Cook just keep getting better and better.   Syesha's second performance was quite moving, last night, and full of passion.

DC should win, I agree. But then the tweenies won't probably let us have DC, they want DA. I'm merely laying it down that DA is the strongest contender that DC has, and it would be a matter of popularity in the end, you know. It would also make me happier, in a sense that at least there's one Cook left in the kitchen, now that KLC is gone (LOL). God bless your mom for loving David Cook. I luv her too. Anyway, of course, it's becoming clearer now the possibility of a DAVID-DAVID finale, unless, the "Daughtry/Tamyra" syndrome happens tonight, and either one of these 2 leaves---what a shocker it would be indeed. Somebody would pass out, I hope not. Season 5 highest ratings for any previous season would be beat by this season if that happens.

I've been listening to the Shout to the Lord group song of the TOP8, and may I share it with you. I find it to be beautiful and could come down in history as an idol classic, only because it was their song for Idol Gives Back. ENJOY!!

I luv ya too, Co. And, btw, Hillary should win too!

Mattsie

Movie actors like Paul Newman, Jimmy Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis make me want to live in the era they lived but I could have been just as inspired even now while I watch their work in films.

Mattsie, let's hope the Tamyra/Daughtry syndrome is a thing of the past. It has to be an All David finale and Archuleta will probabnly win although IMO Cook shouild take the title. At least, I learned this from season 6 and my obsession for Melinda. I think Archie is overrated, but as a young girl back in the day, I understand the general attraction. I think Cook could do a Daughtryesque album with the same success. He brings it every week, but a lot of people don't notice because he makes it look so easy. His diversity is natural for him. I hope American Idol picks the right winner this year, they are overdue. Eliminate Jason tonight, Syesha next week.

ITA, Hillary should win the nomination and the presidency, but this, too, is a popularity contest.  Sad.

Oh thank you mattsie, hugs and kisses for you, i just came on to beg someone to tell me what the second song was that sweet, angelic David Archuleta had sung, cause ugh, i had to leave the house for a bit and duh didn't think of using the tivo...but thank you sooooo much for posting the song here and he blew me away with that version of that song also, but then i look for him to pull away with the title anyway (i don't care how boring he is to some) that's my kind of singer. Seysha just may come in and pull in a second place, wouldn't that be a surprise.....

Sorry Maddie and Mattsie, I just can't get excited by this boy no matter what he sings. Yes, his pitch is always perfect. He's got a great voice, and a ton of talent. But for some reason he continues to bore me to tears. If he does win this thing as expected, I really can't imagine what kind of album he would make, and who his primary demographic would be. Mainstream pop is not in the cards IMHO. Will all those tweenie votes materialize into album sales?

My prefered finale would be Mr Cook and Syesha. That would be entertaining!

But not very likely...

and that's ok bc, you don't have to agree with me, i'm just not a fan of DC, i can't get into this guys music or him.there is just something about him that looks almost close to i don't want to say arrogance, but he just doesn't seem all that humble and almost knows he's going to be crowned, but then i wasn't a fan of Chris Daughtry and for me he reminds me alot of him, JMO. i would rather see Syesha crowned the Idol than Cook....i can at least relate to liking her music. just an opinion mind you.

idol has just come on now in my state and i'm sure hoping it's Castro's last night, he's been there 4 wks too long...

night all

He's gone?  Really?  He's not coming back?  This might not be fair but for the last two weeks Jason has taken on a serious Sanjaya vibe for me and I was really fearing we'd be subjected to three songs from him next week.  Thankfully, he's gone.  And nice job by Ryan trying to sell everyone early in the show that next week is "anyone's game" with the Top 3 only 1 million votes apart this week!

Anyway...here's your new standings.  The cream has risen to the top.  A clear Top 5 has emerged with all of them having a much better feel for the greatness of Castro than I ever did.  Although as you'll see in the next post, one of our Top 5 is going to fall down the ladder in the next two weeks when Mr. Cook & Miss Mercado win and/or go home in 2nd or 3rd place.

Mattsie & I have taken a similar path from the top of the board to middle of the pack mediocrity.  So sad.

With the national nightmare scenario of Jason Castro having to learn three songs out of the way we can get along with saying so long to Syesha next week.  I really like her so I hope she goes out with some great performances.  She’ll have three chances to shine on her way out.  I would be stunned if we have anything but an all-David finale but…who knows?  Stranger things have happened on this show!  Some old guy beat an outstanding, gorgeous young lady only two years ago so…and with that here’s what everyone had for 3rd place on their ballots!

Bcollan – Brooke (out) / Brooke (out)

Maddie – Michael (out) / Brooke (out)

Gregoriancant – Michael (out) / Carly (out)

Uplink – David Hernandez (out) / Carly (out)

Collette – David Cook / Carly (out)

Bian – David Archuleta / Carly (out)

Misty – David Cook / Carly (out)

KatPack1198 – Carly (out) / Brooke (out)

Pakatfan – Jason (out) / Jason (out)

Barlo – Michael (out) / Carly (out)

Vadia – David Cook / Brooke (out)

Mattsie – Michael (out) / Carly (out)

Sjwolves – Brooke (out) / David Archuleta

Trsf – David Cook / David Cook

DJ CoBaby – Brooke (out) / Carly (out)

BigShady – Jason (out) / Carly (out)

Jesuisjess – Carly (out) / None

Shinamarih – Michael (out) / None

Kate4Chris&Kat – Carly (out) / Carly (out)

David Hernandez!  Wow, Bill had DH that high?  And he’s tied for second place?  Might have to look into some flaws in the scoring system with that development!  As everyone can see this is a mess BUT…if trsf wants to be gutsy and predict a Syesha / Archuleta finale…MAXIMUM POINTS POTENTIAL!  Do it!  Do it!  Do it!

Here’s how the Top 5 contestants in our pool have the Top 3 shaking out…let’s see if anybody can catch Vadia.  Obviously, we’re down to only 5 contenders looking at the standings:

Top 12 Ballots

Vadia:  #1 Archuleta, #3 Cook, #7 Syesha

Misty:  #1 Archuleta, #3 Cook, #10 Syesha (ooh, that’ll make it tough)

Uplink:  #1 Archuleta, #9 Syesha, #10 Cook (I think someone is in trouble!)

Kate4Chris&Kat:  #1 Archuleta, #2 Cook, #10 Syesha (losing the Syesha points are going to be rough…but lots of credit for being the only one with the likely top two correct)

DJ CoBaby:  #1 Archuleta, #5 Cook, #7 Syesha (likely to move up…will gain 2-3 points on the 3 people in front on Syesha…although will lose points on Cook to her other female competitors…definitely will pass Uplink Bill)

Super Six Ballots

Vadia:  #1 Archuleta, #2 Cook, #5 Syesha

Misty:  #1 Cook, #2 Archuleta, #5 Syesha (potential for 2-point gain there if Cook wins)

Uplink:  #1 Archuleta, #2 Cook, #5 Syesha (no chance to gain on V)

Kate4Chris&Kat:  #1 Cook, #2 Archuleta, #6 Syesha (will lose a point on Syesha to the rest)

DJCoBaby:  #1 Cook, #2 Archuleta, #6 Syesha

Unless my math is wrong I believe the only two people with a chance to win are actually Vadia & Misty.  And actually…Vadia is guaranteed at least a share of the title.  The best Misty can do is tie by getting all three elimination/champion picks right the next two weeks & Vadia missing them all.  If Syesha goes as I think we all think she will…well, I guess the only way for Misty to get this done is to pick someone different from Vadia next week!  Otherwise, the best possible finish will be finishing 1 point behind with a David Cook victory.  Now of course my math could be wrong but I don’t believe it is.

Anyway, I’m sure everyone will keep fighting it out to finish as high as possible!  Good luck with figuring out your Davids a week from now after the classy Miss Mercado goes home.

This kind of reminds me of Season 2 with Clay, Ruben and Kim Locke.  Kim kind of came on as the competition went along just like Syesha has but I think everyone realized that nobody was cracking the Clay/Ruben finale for quite awhile just like we’ve all been seeing the all-David clash coming for at least a month (if not longer).

One quick thought about Castro.  It really bothers me that he got the chance to perform the last two weeks when if you read last week's Entertainment Weekly, he wasn't prepared at all with his songs when he met Neil Diamond and this week he certainly didn't seem all that in tune with what he was doing.  He seems like a nice kid and he's got a decent voice but that he was still around while Carly & Michael weren't...it was almost depressing to see Carly sitting behind the judges instead of being on that stage in Jason's place.  At least she got to sing with Michael on Ellen's show this week.  That was cool.

It's a good thing this bunch is cute, because they trip over their own tongues trying to answer questions
from the audience (a stupid filler that really should be eliminated - they should have half hour results shows
by this time). This isn't the kids' fault, it's the producers'. At least Sanjaya had some personality and originality.
More and more I'm agreeing with those who maintain that the show peaked with Season Five, and although
it's still finding talent, it's not really showing that talent gets you ahead. Especially if you have a few tattoos.
