Haley Scarnato I took a few risks with mine...going by the mentality of the voters out there. I truly think Jordin will ultimately shine through and win over Melinda in a Final Two showdown. That, with the usual controversy attached--but it'll be because JS is more marketable to the teen Top 40 market. Melinda will still do well in the industry (like Kat) but probably be more accessible to the AC market because she's older and does jazzier material at times. Blake will obviously get a record deal too (and maybe become like Chris Daughtry)--though I think he'll ultimately finish at #3 because his beatbox gimmick may get old after a while with fickle teen viewers. Brandon Rogers was moved up a tad by me--mainly because he's a genuine guy...and people like that. Phil Stacey will probably be the fall guy to that. Ditto with Haley to Sanjaya. I think Sanjaya will be hanging around a while longer (maybe even above 11th)--so plan accordingly.

Initially I had Lakisha at #2 based on the buzz from the entertainment industry. The hosts on all of the morning talk shows mentioned only Melinda and Lakisha. Jordin needs to pick it up a notch in future performances. So far, she has had the YO factor, but is a little short on the WOW, although the potential is there. I don't think Jordin will take it all.

Brandon Rogers 11. Haley Scarnato 12. Sanjaya Malakar Afteer three weeks of performances, we've been able to discern some trends: 1. Most of the guys will never produce a WOW performance. Blake is the only one who might, so he's the only guy with a chance of winning. 2. Lakisha looked like a world beater on Night 1, but has slipped each of the successive nights. She most likely will be undone by one of the theme nights, ala Mandisa. She'll be a "surprise" elimination. 3. Melinda has blown it out all three nights. She's the vocal class of the group. That should carry her like it carried Elliott last year. 4. Glocksen has finally found her groove, after floundering the first two nights. It's questionable how far she can go with her rocker style, but at least she's gotten herself into the hunt. 5. Jordin has gotten better every week, and has shown real versatility, singing a Pat Benatar rocker last week. Impressive. In the threeway shootout with Melinda and Blake, I choose her as most likely to put together three strong performances on that night and to move on to the finals. 6. I predict that Sanjaya will become Kat's male counterpart as a spokesperson for Sexy Hair products... I actually expect Melinda to win, but I am rooting for Jordin, so I made her my AI6 winner.

One for nailing your #12 and one for getting the elimination pick right. I should point out that you can get negative points for missing someone badly. Because it's simply (point value assigned) - (places missed by). So if you miss by more spots than the points you assigned each person for....MINUS points for you. Oh...I think once we have all of the ballots in I'll tally up all the placements we have and give you the Top 12 results based on the average pick of our contestants in the pool here. Just to get an idea where the KMF community has this thing pegged. It's pretty interesting to see how different or similar our tastes are with this year's crop considering we are all coming from the same place with the Idol '06 group. At least for our #1 we are.

Being able to vote for an alternate this week (as we apparently will be able to later for elimination picks) would probably be more desirable for a lot of us though. Right now, there seems to be a three-way split between Sanjaya, Haley and Brandon going home Wednesday. I'd say it's the best bet to go with either Haley or Brandon...because there's plenty of indication Sanjaya won't be going home for a little while. It'll happen eventually, but it'll take probably a couple of weeks. Who knows, though, that Sanjaya won't finally do a screamer song into the mic tomorrow night to prove that he doesn't always whisper when he sings. Then again, it's Diana Ross night...so screaming one of her hits might be a challenge. I'm sticking with Haley going home first. Brandon is one of those genuine type of guys that really keeps fans around on the phones in support. While a bland performer compared to the others...that aspect will finally eliminate him in the next week or two if Phil doesn't go home first. I may be wrong, though, and Brandon stays nearly up to Top 8 (which is closer to where I placed him on my list). It's fairly clear to me that the more genuine personality types get loyal followings. That means people aren't stupid and notice these things quite astutely. Interesting that the Jordin Sparks at #1 picks are increasing a little. Remember, though, I'm going by the emotions of the voters (that's how we all should play this thing) rather than my personal favorites. Even though I don't have a personal favorite right now (Melinda and Jordin come close in a tie, however), we'll have to have a list of our more or less personal favorites later just to see the difference.
