Groucho,
That's what i meant.
megustajake posted this at IDF, it's a Youtube interview with David Foster. I'm really starting to appreciate this guy. I love his attitude of "say whatever you want to about me, in 100 years we'll both be dead so what the heck," because he's not nasty about it, he's just saying he's going to do things his way because that's him, it's what he knows, and if you like it fine, and if you don't, well, he wasn't put here on earth to make everybody else happy but to do what it's in him to do.

Hi goody,
I do agree that country fans are more loyal. You being a Carolinian probably feel differently, but I'm not a country fan, so I'm glad that Kat's not going there. Shania Twain's hubby was a producer for some big-name heavy metal acts, and her music seems more poppish than country.
Actually, Kat might do well to consider the Robbie Williams path, since she probably still wants to sing pop. Williams was a UK boy-band member who became a huge international star as a solo pop act. (He hasn't done as well in the US, aside from some MTV play in the late '90s - although David Archuleta did cover him during Idol Gives Back week.) He then made a swing album at the height of his popularity (one of his heroes was Frank Sinatra), rather than doing so while in need of a career comeback (ala Rod Stewart and Barry Manilow). Since then, I believe he's alternated between pop and swing, while remaining a big star worldwide.

I never watched Princes of Malibu so I can't tell you squat about it. All I know is what he just talked about. Generally I hate shows like that because they're supposed to be so real and they come off so damn fake, and everybody still pretends they aren't. It's the Heisenberg principle being illustrated for the masses: if you watch it, it will change everything. Even if it's real. And they mostly aren't.
I caught the first episode of that several years back (before it tanked in the ratings) and nearly threw a brick at the TV. That was one of the most depressing reality shows every produced on TV--and it's too bad DF had to jump on the reality show bandwagon like that. If he's made any career mistakes, it was in television rather than music.
Overall, though, it showed how tolerant Foster was (or is) of people who drive him insane--namely his own grown kids who kept arriving and either asking for money, getting into trouble or just making his Malibu mansion (the one that received the smoke damage in the Malibu fires) too crowded. It boggled my mind why he didn't kick his kids out and blow a gasket when his kids practically tore the place apart doing too much typical L.A. partying.
Yes, this contradicts the idea that David Foster has a temper. He's actually very patient, maybe to a fault with his own family. While he gets acerbic sometimes, he and Kat should have a good working relationship in the studio while he slowly carves out her musical niche.
Anyway, I was amazed to hear that DF was adding Michael Johns to his roster. If he signs MJ, it'll be the first international artist he's ever worked with as far as I'm aware. Most of his Foster Children are Canadian or American. I wouldn't worry about it overshadowing Kat in any way at this Vegas show. In fact, knowing David, he'll likely pair Kat up with Michael Johns for some kind of creative duet as Foster did with that other young Canadian singer this last year.
We should be glad that it appears part of DF's day now consists of brainstorming creative ways he can utilize Kat in a musical performance.
