I see Rosie105.FM from Portland, which is quite well known. They'd be easy for me to contact. And, of course, this format is the one where we can push for both singles. Though I have to admit I didn't know there were two types of AC out there. Hot AC is a good compromise for not getting in the Top 40. The other AC sort of mixes in older material (where old and new Great American Songbook recordings are played), which is also a lucrative market. 'OTR' would definitely get airplay there--and I know of one in the valley I could contact that's not listed on this list.

Yes, this list isn't complete on all the Portland radio stations--but it lists the better known ones. I guess it'd be acceptable to go after the smaller market ones too? Though it's relative on the term 'smaller market.' I know of many other AC stations around the local area that get wide listens.

Good job on getting this together and explaining everything so people understand how the process works. That explanation of developing phone or email bonds with the DJ's is really important too. My dad's a master at that and does that with his fave radio stations. They frequently play things he requests too. So, get on the phone and call the DJ's or email them, because they like the listener interaction.

The reviews on the singles are starting to get out now--and they're happily glowing. Hopefully the buzz from that will incite radio stations to play them--and could be something to mention in contacting the DJ's. Though usually personal reasons are better in citing why you want it played.

I just discovered radio-locator.com and found a list of 23 pages of various stations in Michigan. I am winnowing it down to appropriate formats and have already emailed several stations in the Detroit area. After finding this forum and reading the tips, I'll be more effective in future efforts.

Radio-locator.com seems like a handy resource. I can't call everybody but I certainly can get out a lot of e-mails.

Where are people finding reviews of the singles?

I posted about this at the Internet Movie Database where I hang out a lot and immediately got a response from someone who said she was looking for a way to do something positive to support Katharine. I posted the radio-locator site and also told her to come over here and look around and get some tips. I posted this on Katharine's individual site because i thought it would be friendlier, but I suppose I should do it on the general Idol board as well...although the general boards seem to be dominated by other people these days. You never know, the imdb says it gets 30 million hits a month. It was originally a movie site, I guess, but now encompasses movies, tv, etc.

Kat is getting not much airplays on the radio.... only several stations played her I believed... the stations listed in the first post are the stations that would play her song if we request... so start requesting her song today!

To add my 2 cents...I e-mail and got a response from Jona Denz-Hamilton and she said she forwarded the request to the program director. I would suggest e-mailing and asking for your request to be forwarded to the music director straight away since it seems like this is the real decision maker.  I called the 800 number they post as the request line and never got an answer, just non-stop ringing so e-mailing is probably your best bet.

I don't think E-mailing is a good bet because I E-mailed 7 times in total to the stations in my area and have not gotten back anything yet. I think the phone would be easier (for me at least since E-mail doesn't seem to be working).
