Are you interested in helping out with Kat's online encyclopedia? Perhaps you could help us out.

Can someone go through kat's weekly wardrobe and write down all the things she wore, based on the label and the description?

It'd be great if you could categorize by the Week as well as write down the description, which this link provides.... (label and what the clothing is called).

No one is doing it, that is why there are no other responses here! If you would like to do it, then say so here and Ken will get back to you with more information. In future this whole process of assigning/selecting tasks for the website will be automated, but until then we are hoping to get things rolling before this information disapears for good. So please step up to the plate and become katpedia's first researcher!

I am not volunteering to do this, but an easy way to capture this would be to save the pages to your hard drive. This will give you all of the little gifs and links as well. Go to all shows, there should be 8 pages. On Firefox go to File>Save Page As. This will give you the whole page that could be directly incorporated into the Katpedia.

Ken - shouldn't someone say that they are doing it so that we don't get a whole bunch of people duplicating the effort? That is a sure way to discourage people if tomorrow 5 people show up with task completed and we tell 4 of them "sorry, you wasted your time".

Until we get automated, I think we should at least take the steps that would be taken if we were - that is, one person takes responsibility for the task, becomse the "official" owner of that task and everyone else knows not to perform the same task.

So I think if you want to take on a task, say so here!

i agree, there has to be some kind of organization with this...i have to work today and tonight, but i am off tomorrow--tuesday, i have all of the info for this post--the other one about makeup, hair, whatever...i don't know what you need because i saw that somebody already got all of that...tell me what you need, and i will organize it, okay?  i don't want to do what 50 other people are already doing--but i WILL do anything that needs to be done for the project, okay?  okay.  thanks!

Much thanks. i've tried somehting like that with webpages before to no avail but I thought their was a way of doing this. I will give it a shot!

I just envised someone posting "I'll do it!" and that would let everyone know not to duplicate the effort.

Unfortuantely, despite working on the project since i got home from work until bed, and then working on it this morning and now being very late, i did not get a chance to try the "save as" trick.

if you could try that on mozilla (save as complete web page option) and if it doesn't work just save the stuff on word or notepad, that'd be great

sounds like a plan...going to eat and then i will get this done for the site! 

okay, i am doing this now, and i am telling you that i can save all the pages, which are quite a few, and organize them, HOWEVER, when you click on the links for the products that she wore--you DO NOT get the products she wore--you get the designer that she wore and a similar item, but some of the "similar" items are not similar at all...so, i don't know why we would want to see the similar items, but i have saved the pages with the designers' names and the name of the design, but again, if you click it, not even similar.  kat is one of a kind and so are her outfits i guess!  ha  ;)  just wanted to give you the heads up on this.  if you want me to save the NON similar items, i will...but i think that's not worth it for the site, in my opinion, as it's supposed to be what she wore and so forth, right?  let me know if otherwise...i tried to e-mail you but you have no e-mail listed for the site that i can see.

Ok, i was going through the stuff yesterday.... it seemed like the links led to the items she wore but i guess i don't have your eye for detail. Regardless, does the saved webpage take you to the same url that the "live' webpage goes to?

yes, i saved the pages...and i saved all of the info...and a lot of what she wore is NOT the stuff they link you to--it says "similar item," so instead, i opened up a new window for each and searched for that item with the maker and most of the stuff i found, the stuff that she wore--there were about 2 things so far, and i haven't completed apparel yet, but i will tomorrow...i have all of the jewelry and shoes done though for the top 12 weeks--including hair and makeup, which was only for the top 8 weeks...though i am not sure if somebody else, i think katidol said he was doing that?  anyway, i have it all.  it took for freakin ever!  gosh!  haha

Here are pictures of the infamous yellow dress.  You are right... the gif for this points to a Dina Bar-El gown that is not even close although Dina did 6 for the show .

 This was a vintage Ossie Clark circa 1970... There was an Ossie Clark retrospective in the V&A museum in 2003 in London.

Note that there are only 8 buttons.  The only thing holding it together below the waist line was static cling although maybe the AI stylists taped it.  There was no "malfunction" , the dress was designed to come apart that way.

Reports had that it was "very expensive", but I was unable to locate a price.

i read what i wrote and it doesn't really make sense in one part...there were about 2 things so far THAT I COULD NO LOCATE was the rest of that sentence...haha  but i am in apparel now, so we shall see when it's all complete, but only 2 out of lots so far that cannot be located is pretty darn good!  however, a thought was that most things, when people go looking, if they want to see what she wore, are not going to be available in the future because times change and so does the fashion world, so maybe it will be just good enough to say what it was and the designer--i mean it's barely been a few months and a lot of the stuff is not available anymore, hence the AI site offering SIMILAR item links, ya know?  oh well...just throwing in my 2 cents...or sense...ha i am tired!

The reference comes from "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy"...a very famous book by Douglas Adams (now a bad movie) ....

On the AI site there is a Style Weekly section with in-depth descriptions of all of Kat's weekly outfits,hair and make up;with the designer names and re: the finale,there's discussion of all the jewelry Kat wore that night!!Fascinating stuff;so many wardrobe malfunctions and then there's the taping!!!

Well actually not "one of a kind" The label is "Ossie Clark for Radley" . Radley was an exclusive line, so there would have been a limited number of these produced but had worldwide distribution.

Nevertheless it is early 70s' vintage and quite rare.

Who owns the dress now? Does Kat have it, or was it bought by AI?  Kat if you are reading this, can you help us out?

well i either have it in writing or i have it on a video clip, but the wardrobe person said that when it ripped, button popped off, whatever, that what would they say when they found out that it was a one of a kind vintage?!  so i don't know, but that's what was said by the wardrobe person at the time, and that's where i got it from.

I remember reading that the wardrobe person said that, but it is not accurate and was an exaggeration. It was vintage, and it was Ossie Clark.
  This quote is from the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum Pages)

By the late 1960s, despite its glittering clientele, Quorum was burdened by debt. In 1968 Alice Pollock and Ossie Clark approached clothing manufacturer Alfred Radley, who agreed to purchase the business.

While continuing to produce his own exclusive label, Clark also designed a line called 'Ossie Clark for Radley'. The garments were made in larger quantities at lower prices. In developing this range, Clark would often start with a prototype or pattern. Radley designers such as Rosemary Bradford - like Clark, also a Royal College of Art graduate - would then translate his concept into a series of stylish variations. 'Ossie Clark for Radley' was one of the first 'diffusion' lines. Its affordable prices combined with worldwide distribution made Clark's designs accessible to a much broader market.
