It was one year ago, this week that Katharine McPhee was in Hollywood to begin her run on "American Idol".

For the next 14 weeks, I would like to do a weekly thread, which will change weekly until the finale, starting with Katharine's performance of "Since I Fell For You".

What do you all remember about that performance?

I wasn't familiar with the song, but got to see her singing a full song from beginning to the end. Her voice is pure and beautiful !

Ah yes, I remember it well. Valentine's day, February 14, 2006. I was staying in a hotel room in Sunrise Fl, and I got so excited after Kat's performance that I called home and started blabering like a raving lunatic to my wife and daughter. Then I searched the web for everything I could find about Kat, and one of the first things I found was a new fansite  called katharinefans.com. It was run by this guy named Chad who had half the posts himself!

Yes, Wednesday way also my one year KMF anniversary. And what a wonderful year it was!

I had never heard that song before but I was blown away by her performance. I also totally loved her whole segment on the show - the little chat with Ryan before and after singing, the move she made when Randy gave a shout out to the dog pound, the smouldering gaze at the end of the song and of course the reference to her butt. I looked up the internet for the original song and found one by Barbara Streisand. Didn't like it. There's another one by this guy that was played in an old movie. It was really nice and slow, but nothing like what Kat did. That was when I knew that the LA auditon wasn't just a one off thing. This girl was on her way to greatness.

Hey guys I don't post much but I do check in daily and if you don't mind I would like to correct you about the comment Kat made about her butt, it was when she sung "Think" I believe it was maybe the second week when she sung Think, so I believe Since I Fell For You was the song she sung the first week of the top 24! So anyway I hope that helps!

I remember that I couldn't remember Kat's name or exactly who she was from the auditions and Hollywood rounds where I was able to pick her out both times, but I finally made the connection when she started singing and
