Yeah, this project is sounding better all of the time.

Yep... Until Kat came along, Jane was my favorite (still ranks right up there)... I've been following Jane since she was a kid.

You have excellent taste,GB3535!My other favs are Linda Eder and Michael Buble....are you familiar with their work?

Well, you have excellent taste as well, keefir1!  Can you believe that both Linda Eder and Michael Buble are in heavy rotation on my mp3 player as of late.  Lately I've been listening to Buble's "Call Me Irresponsible" and Eder's "It's Time" CDs... both excellent.

My friends call my taste pretty much eclectic, as I don't listen to just one style or genre.  And with over 5000 albums (and CDs) from my days in music, I can pretty much satisfy anyone's fantasy "playlist"!  Besides Katharine, Eder and Buble, here is what is on my mp3 player's favorite folder right now (many more that I couldn't add here)  No particular order...

1.  Jean-Luc Ponty - Imaginary Voyage

2.  Jane Monheit - Surrender

3.  Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - Raising Sand (to be released to the general public 10/23/07)

4.  Black Keys - Rubber Factory

5.  Holly Cole - Don't Smoke in Bed

6.  Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet

7.  Michael Feinstein - Feinstein Sings Gershwin

8.  Alan Parsons Project - I Robot

9.  Ahmad Jamal - Live at the Pershing 1958

10.  JJ Cale and Eric Clapton - The Road to Escondido

Ask me tomorrow and I would probably have to compile a new list!

After sifting through that IDF thread again , I guess I was mistaken about the 2 standards - they've been listed on ASCAP since before Kat's album was released. "If Not for Love" is still a possibility I think, though Elliott did say "Real Love" according to the chat transcript, and the thought is that it refers to the late 80s Jody Whatley R&B version. Maybe the genre shown in the product listing is incorrect? Randy mentioned recording with some country singers, but I don't think I saw anyone with strong jazz credentials. (Did find that jazz trumpeter Christian Scott played on a track.) It's all very confusing; are the record labels now putting bogus entries in ASCAP to trick snooping fans?

The release is going to be on Concord, definitely a Jazz label, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a "hard" jazz release.

Wow..5000 CDs;! Certainly an ecclectic mix!Not familiar with many on your list.I do have all of Linda's recordings(have seen her live x2);and all Michael Feinstein's...his Gershwins are great! What do you think of Diana Krall and have you ever seen Sissel? Also love Martina McBride. My taste runs from Broadway to soundtracks to classical.I even have some early David Foster CDs!

Hi Keefir1:
Yes, I like Diana Krall and have several CDs by her... but I think I like her hubby even more (Elvis Costello). I've been following him since the days back when he had a band called "Elvis Costello and the Attractions". I know of Sissel, but I'm not intimately familar with her work. I believe I have a promo copy of her 2004 american release lying around in the archives somewhere! As I recall though I liked it. Right now I'm in the process of cataloging all of my music in a database, so I know what I have and where it is located!!!! I'm right in the middle of the project so things are a bit confusing in my mind right now. Sounds like you have great taste in music. Well, you would have to if you like Katharine!!! Ha Ha.....

Hi GB3535..Great idea.....I should also catalogue my semi-organized CD collection! If you have a break from your task, you might take a look @ Sissel on youtube....she has a pure, lovely voice and she is quite beautiful. Her 2nd PBS special(and dvd release)debuts next month. What do you think of Josh Groban?? Yes,I have an incurable case of McPheever....as the song goes,"she's simply irresistable"!!

Yeah, I saw that song list when peeking in here the other day--and thought something wasn't right. You can tell something's wrong when it lists "Couldn't Sleep" as a song...when that's the first line in the second chorus (if I remember right) to "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" (not Bedwildered" as they put there either by accident or on purpose.
