One thing I have to say about Kat fans is we are a diverse group that come in all shapes, sizes, and ages, and with that comes differences of opinion, etc. What may be disrespectful to some may be okay to others, and it's totally a perception and interpretation thing. We can't tell people how to feel or that something shouldn't bother them, etc. - this is something important to keep in mind. So, with that said . . . we shouldn't be afraid to speak or minds or state if something is offensive or acceptable, as long as discussion aren't getting nasty and disrespectful to Katharine or other members, then we should all be fine.
There's always going to be healthy debates - we aren't robots who all agree and want to only discuss rainbows and puppies and how beautiful Katharine looks, a forum is for people to post how they feel or their opinion on that respective thread's topic.
McPhee Club has closed and let's just try to move past it, let's not get caught up in the "would of/should of/could of" game because that only leads to more arguments and hurt feelings. We shouldn't be placing blame or pointing fingers and saying this is what should have been done, because we don't know all the details and communications that took place between Katharine and her team. As far as I'm concerned I'm "OVER IT" baby!
Time to spread a little Peace, Love and McPheever!!
I'd like to take the opportunity here to welcome the McPhee Club members posting and reading this thread, some of whom are new to KMF.
All Kat fans everywhere are welcome here at katharinefans. You can make this your home, or just check in once in a while. Either way, you'll find a great bunch friendly Kat fans of all ages and backgrounds eager to discuss anything and everything about our lovely lady. Tastefully, of course.
Thanks for clearing that up Bill.
I wasn't a part of the fan club so I don't know what right I have to post on this but I will anyway, because I can't help myself. I can understand Leah being sensitive to some of the criticism regarding the fanclub. She obviously was working very hard on it and in a lot of ways was the fan club, so criticism of it may have felt like criticism of her. Surely it must have been frustrating dealing with the yo-yos at UltraStar. I hope Kat appreciates the work Leah put in for her in that regard, chasing those bozos around to do their jobs. Also, I am sure Leah was trying to build the fan club into something and felt criticisms from the fans themselves wasn't productive toward that goal, especially when UltraStar was enough of an obstacle. Of course, I would assume most of the criticisms fans did have were legitimate given what we know. And they were customers who had an expectation for what they paid for. I agree with some of the others that rushing into another fan club isn't the best idea. No point in having one just to have one. Is there the demand and will there be enough to offer? Having an official site with basic dissemination of news so we don't have to find out about stuff through google alerts would be nice. That way fans who aren't as in the know as are we can have a destination where they can be well-informed about everything Kat is doing. Even so, I realize managing something like that is much easier said then done, and there are a lot of variables with regard to what resources are available. Anyway, as far as a new fan club, when things are ready for that great. And a quick message to Kat: Please don't wait so long to check up on her fan club. If you don't have time, make use of your management and delegate somneone within that organization to make sure everything is being handled properly, and check with them if it is.... and get involved. Management is getting a cut of your pay check, they should be there to check up on those things, even if it's very occasionally. Kat busted her butt her whole life just to have a fan club. Whether it was making 25 bucks per show or going on audition after audition or making tough decisions with her career and her schooling, she worked for it. Please Kat, don't get complacement once you have all this and when you have people who want to be in a fan club for you. Check up on it. You worked to hard for all this and it's not easy to get. And if I am speaking out of line because I don't know the full story, well then I apologize. Now some feedback for Leah: Since you were chosen by Kat and Nick to be Fan Liaison/Fan Club Representative according to Co, what about making yourself available to people outside the fanclub? Perhaps you always were, but I was not really aware of what your role was since I wasn't part of the fanclub, and I am not sure many others are as well. I do think Kat fans need to have some official way to communicate with Kat, a way that anyone in the Kat online fan community knows about. I don't think we have that now. I saw a site that was doing a full stream of Kat's album a year after it's release and found it greatly frustrating that there was no channel set up for myself, as a Kat fan, to communicate that to RCA or her managment. I had to guess people's email addresses at RCA from some names I knew, and of course they got bounced back. We need someone in the fan community who interacts with us who is available to pass along fans' issues and concerns. Like when events Kat does charity gigs for refer us to her management to get any video footage. I been hoping for the Run To You in Denver she performed forever. Some of those charity gigs, it's Kat that owns the video... and only her right to give permission to distribute it.
And when Dorian was screwing people over with the meet and greets, what could we do? Or what about some of the messages from the DJs we got?
It'd be beneficial if we could escalate that sort of stuff so her management is aware. I understand that there has been some behind the scenes communications on that sort of stuff by some but it is very behind the scenes, nobody really knows what's going on, and people need an open channel of communication and some sort of sharing of information across the online fan base with kat and her management. We don't have that right now. I have never been in another fanbase so I don't know if it's typical to have a point person but we need one.
^Kat fans do have a way to communicate directly with Kat through her MySpace page. Kat reads and approves all of her comments, though she doesn't always get around to reading the multitude of messages she receives. This should be the primary means of fan communication for the time being.
As for issues and concerns, well, we can't be inundating Kat's crew with all the issues and concerns that her fans have on a daily basis. But anything very important or urgent can be sent to Leah or me. We'll make sure the right people get to see it.
