Been Quiet

Oh my goodness...I finally was able to check most of my mail for the past couple of months and I popped in the McPhan Christmas dvd and I was blown away. I actually cried a little watching. Thank you thank you thank you for that. It really was very sweet and amazing to watch. Its obvious now why I have been quiet for a while. I do really try and not talk about personal things as well as not post things until they are actually happening. There has been a lot going on and much more in the future. I want to thank you all so very much for your support and encouragement. It means a lot. Thank you guys. I don't take it lightly all the time and effort and encouragement. I will be back posting every so often just to check in. I can't promise all the time but I will do my best. Thank you for all the gifts as well. They were very exciting to open.

Thanks for posting that! I did read it late, late, last night (actually this morning). It was great to hear from her! Like we all figured, she just isn't going to be one to share personal things and that's okay with me. It's nice that she at least does acknowledge that her fans are with her always and that we are appreciated. Not that we didn't think she didn't appreciate us! It's just nice to be recognized. I wasn't familiar with the McPhan Christmas DVD. Can someone please explain?

Yes it is...I think it's funny that she doesn't actually say why she's been absent for so long.  I mean I think we all know but...still.  It's a teensy bit strange she doesn't use the "w" or "m" word.

Hello Moms4Kat -  that was something that the Fan Club did for her - some members recorded a message wishing Katharine well and Happy Holidays, and all that jazz.  One of the tech savy members compiled it all on a DVD to send to her on behalf of the McPhee Club.  Unfortunately, I missed the deadline and never figured out how to do it, plus I really don't like those close webcam shots.  I'm so happy to hear how it touched her, she really does appreciate her fans - I still love it that "Home" is for the fans and the strength we provide her.

This was good timing for the bulletin because I know fans were going stir crazy from not hearing from her, I think her last bulletin was on Christmas Day, so it really hasn't been that long.   Plus, we all know that the young lady was off planning a wedding and getting hitched, I think it's cute how she doesn't mention she got married, I mean really what would she say? "Oh, and BTW - I GOT MARRIED!!"  But, the underlying tone of that part of her message is- 'there's some things in my life that I will keep personal; however, I'll share stuff about my career and projects when the dotted line is signed." 

Gloria Estefan.......(and the Miami Sound Machine) ....who could possibly not know who she was/is!!!  Until Kat came along, Gloria (along with Karen Carpenter) has displayed the most wonderful vocal qualities of all the so-called "Divas" of our time! Neither one of them performed with the vocal runs performed by so many singers these days. However, they have both been able to display such a depth to their tone that they really don't need all the "fancies" to stir emotion and appreciation from an audience. (Yes, I have also been privileged to hear Karen Carptenter before her untimely death.)

I have long been a fan of Gloria's and was thrilled to be able to attend her sold-out tour "Into the Light" in the early 1990's. She came to Denver and so I drove myself and my daughter (who was 11 at the time) down from Wyoming to see her. It was an incredible, unforgettable concert! A feast for the ears and the eyes!

The opening number had a group of dancers in fencing attire and face masks. Toward the end of the all instrumental number, the dancers carried out another dancer (who was in a full split position) above their heads. As they set the performer down at the end of the routine, the dancer removed the mask and unbelievably, it was Gloria Estefan!! Unbelievable, because she had just recently recovered from a terrible bus accident where she broke her back in several places. The doctors who inserted metal rods into her back, didn't think she would ever walk again! 

Do you remember in Season 5 when Andre Bocelli and David Foster were trying to get Chris Daughtry to lay on the floor on his back while singing to help him improve his breathing technique and thus take the strain off of his throat? We all remember how difficult he thought it was....and it is! But, for those who master the technique, it is an incredible asset! Anyway, half way through Gloria's concert, she asked our forgiveness but she needed to get off of her feet for awhile. She didn't want to not continue singing and so, she sang while lying on her back on the stage floor! She was incredible!!!  Not only does she sing and dance, but she writes almost all of her own material. Her ballads are some of the most beautiful and touching ever recorded.

I know that one day, Katharine will be spoken of with the same kind of respect and admiration that many have for Gloria Estefan.

That happens to be another great quality about Katharine. She's cute, sweet, down to earth, sexy, caring, supportive, funny and yet remains to have mystery about her. That adds on to the fact that we are all fans of Kat. It's like an adventure finding all of the news Kat won't tell us personally and then adds suspense once we find out whether it's true or not. It's all on the adventure of this Kat rollercoaster and I'm happy to be apart of it. Sure I wish we would get confirmation on this news but I find it fun to find out on my own. If Kat wants to share anything, that's her choice but unless she does, it's up to us to dig up all the goods we've been dying to hear.

Yes, it's funny that we don't get outright infos, as if we're left out in the dark - hanging and swinging around- going stir crazy, indeed. But I guess that's the MO and we'd have to deal with it that way. So, until that time when Kat gives out her sure infos in her next bulletin, we would be waiting and hunting around for news and stuff elsewhere. I hope she spills tidbits of anything at all, to keep us fans excited, at least- not like this that as if I'm on a limbo. How about you? But I can't blame her, really. Again, patience, patience......
