Reading all of the above just makes me very happy that Katharine is somehow or other under the wing of David Foster. I guess we'll get the details whenever K. has everything worked out to her satisfaction and is far enough along with gathering, recording, and signing/pitching to a label/whatever that she feels confident talking about it. I'd rather have her under the aegis of someone who really likes to discover and promote talented people and their careers rather than just dive in for the quick million and then whatever happens happens. I've listened to songs on the Myspace pages of some of the people she appears to be working with and have liked what I've heard, and I know Foster knows how to work with performers. Her management can show demos of just about anything, without even going back to Idol. You want to hear her belt? Here's the National Anthem. Want to hear her croon a love song? Here's "Something" for you. Want to see how she looks 20 feet tall on a movie screen? Here's a trailer. It really seems like she's got a good team supporting her in every phase of her career right now.
bcollan...thanks so much for not hatin on leona! and i really don't think there should be any comparison between katharine and leona b/c they are SO UNBELIEVABLY DIFFERENT!!
i know a lot of ppl on kmf are kinda sick of LL and i can't change that but i think a lot of dislike is coming b/c simon is involved w/ her. but o well can't change the minds of everyone! but i'm glad everyone at least watched her to see if they liked her. maybe you'll like another song of hers but til then...lets just stop the comparisons! go kat and leona!
And thanks for being a good sport about all of this, july16november18. I'm not a fan, but Leona is a good singer, and she can hardly be blamed for any of Kat's perceived misfortunes. It's the people above her, if anything.
No, Tommy. Just, no.
Nope, no "mainstream clones". David's people have real talent. And Kat fits right in!
I like Leona Lewis but, she or no one else, will ever be in the same category as our Katharine. And there is no other singer that I would spend the time being so fanatic about! There is room in the music world for all type of great and legitimate singers! I know, I know....if only it were that simple. Where $$$$ are involved, things are never sweet and simple.
I like the song Bleeding Love. However, something about the intro to the song has been sticking in my head and I think I just figured it out. If Leona is to be described as a clone, then we all pretty much can agree that it's as a Mariah Carey clone. And, that's where the intro to Bleeding Love rang a bell for me. In Mariah's CD "Emotions" (one of my favorite cds) she does a song called "Can't Let Go" and the intro is amazingly similar. It makes sense that if you are going to clone someone, you had better go with one of the best!!
I'm just happy that Katharine is herself and can't be compared to anyone else's voice, style, or appearance! I think that there is great credit to be given to Katharine for taking one of the most well known and loved songs of all time in American music and almost 2 years after recording it with DF and releasing it, it is still on the charts!!!
Gee, would you please tell me where I can listen to "I Lost You" by Katharine? I am not at all familiar with that song. Thanks!
Remember that you can hear just about ANY Katharine song through the terrific katpedia widget on the KMF home page.
And I agree about ILY, it's my favorite of Kat's recorded post-idol songs too! I could never figure out why it got left off the album.
