I saw this in the New York Daily News this morning.
Katharine will be performing in the Macy's 4th Of July Fireworks Spectacular next Friday, on NBC at 9 pm eastern/pacific, 8 pm central/mountain.
I thought this might interest you.
Thank you.
It seems that Katharine is getting the highlight performance of the event.
A Dance of Lights for the 4th - New York Sun The Pops will be accompanied by an assortment of popular recording artists, including country music singer Kenny Chesney; pop musicians Gavin DeGraw, Natasha Bedingfield, and Jordin Sparks, and an "American Idol" finalist, Katharine McPhee, who will perform a slow rendition of "Save the Last Dance for Me" as the famous "Golden Mile" fireworks display bursts over her head.

Here's the Michael Buble version of "Save the Last Dance for Me":
This appearance friday night on national tv followed up by others and the movie coming out in august is the start of a huge summer of Katharine McPhee
Or she could have marched back and forth on stage singing "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (doing James Cagney leaps up the side wall or not) while the whole stage is showered in illegal fireworks. Then again, having those fireworks overhead while Kat sings "Save the Last Dance for Me" might make her lose her hearing for 48 hours. So here's hoping Kat wears some ear protection, because being right under (or near) ground zero of the kind of hi-tech fireworks you see at Macy's can potentially give you the rock concert deafness that makes everybody sound like Minnie Mouse temporarily in your immediate vicinity.
Well, I'm pretty excited about Kat's appearance on the Macy's special tomorrow night, because it's one of my past wished-for appearances on this board. Now I can place a checkmark next to this one...with Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade next to go as the only one unfairly unfulfilled. Nobody can tell me there isn't some media people out of those 500+ lurkers up there who aren't reading every adjective and wish we write here.
On "Save the Last Dance for Me": Obviously this is from the David Foster song repository as others noted. Sometimes I wonder if David Foster will eventually have Kat duet with Michael Buble due to DF choosing some of Buble's songs for her to sing. She even sang "Feeling Good" (that Buble helped revive somewhat) on her brief summer tour last year, despite that probably not being via suggestion from David. Nevertheless, it's obvious that David has a lot of good songs at his disposal (and has legal rights to) that he can give to Kat to prove her talent until they complete writing new material for her album.
I guess "StLDfM" can be used in a lot of incongruous ways...as witnessed with that above odd but still witty Buble video in the dance studio. This is probably the first time it's been used in a 4th of July special, but you can count on Kat making it sound appropriate for the occasion. And, yeah, I hope she does slow it down and not make it into the Rhumba as Buble did. Some carped about that (mea culpa for DF's arranging), though it's a malleable song.
Yep, America=Katharine McPhee. She's the epitome of the American dream and representative of the values we all (or most of us) want in this country. Kudos to the producers for managing to land the right choice for the Macy's 4th of July event...when a lot of other celebrities and singers want to move to Europe if they don't get the President they want in November.
I see it has already been posted. Kat Macy's performance
