GREAT NEWS !!!! So if my math is correct, 375,000 initially shipped out to stores minus the 291.000 sold so far leaves only about 84,000 albums remaining in stores..... Anyone have any idea now when RCA makes another shipment that could possibly get KAT over the 500,000 mark for GOLD status?

How low will they let the remaining # of albums in stores go, before shipping a new shipment of albums?

It may be dependent on what the stores order. Chain stores can have varying results based on their location so each store will reorder above the corporate projection if a cd is doing really well. They won't wait for RCA to ship.

It's great to see the sales start to climb again though! Woohoo!

I'm just curious... after an article showed up a week or so ago (the Courtney Love one) citing figures like out of 30,000 albums released, 30 go platinum, I wonder how many actually have so far this year? How did last year stack up against this? We keep hearing that physical sales are declining due to the availability of digital downloads and album sales are falling off because people dl individual songs, so I'm just curious. How many people actually manage to sell gold? Because obviously Katharine is going to get there, we just don't know when, and that will probably put her into something like the top 1% of album sales. Sounds a little different when you say it like that.

Excellent point Groucho. Though I think if you looked only at major label US releases, you would see a different picture. I can't imagine that there's more than five hundred to one thousand of those released each year.

Let's just say that she has already shipped out more but isn't there yet. If she gets an AI appearance she should get the orders in time for what I see happening in that her Gold cert will come just in time for Clive to announce it at his final 3 visit.

I'd agree that an AI appearance should really help Kat.  See how the Billboard 200 positions changed after a TV appearance. Tony Bennett went from #138 to #92 after appearing on "American Idol"   and  Josh Groban #115 to #96  after an appearance on "Dancing with the Stars".

I've read on several sites/new stories that Kat was certified gold because 500K have now been shipped. I don't know how true that is... I'll wait for official word, but exciting nonetheless!!
