Well Real Love has made it to #97 on the iTunes Pop 100!!!! Kat's first charting since OCAYF!!!

Also the song has been played on 3 stations so far!

 

KTDY-FM AC Lafayette, LA
KHTS-FM Top 40 San Diego

Those 2 were yesterday and


WTVR-FM AC Richmond

today.

 

For Yes fans the song is showing up when you enter Katharine McPhee & Elliott Yamin and not under just Kat.

 

It still has not been added to Mediabase so we can't get a Quick Cut link yet. And even though it has spins it isn't showing up on their charts yet but IT HAS BEEN PLAYED ON THE RADIO!!!!

I just emailed three local radio stations and told them I'd like to hear it soon. One guy at WNIC was very enthusiastic about OCAYF when I sent him a copy of it last year. Unfortunately their PD was out of town at the time, but at least I got one of the dj's raving. I tried a Top 40, HAC and jazz/r&b station because I do listen to at least two of the three.

Sometimes you have to really hunt around to figure out where the Contact button is on these guys' homepages, but there's usually one somewhere. Sometimes it's buried at the very bottom of the page, or in a sub-menu somewhere.

A couple of my stations replied and at least said they'd consider it, whatever that mean. These days I stick to stations in my area that I actually listen to sometimes, so I can say things like that and mean it. The local Smooth Jazz station is the one my clock radio wakes me up to.

 "Something" is #117 on AC and "Real Love" is #221 for this week (Mar 7 -13) on AC!!

WEZF-FM, Burlington, VT has spun "Something"  4 times!!!!!

This may be a dumb question but how are the stations getting the track of "Something" to play? Anyone know...I'm sure you do!

I believe they simply recorded it themselves. There has been some communication with iTunes from fans about trying to get it up there for people to buy.

 

there are links of the MP3's in the media thread. And hey they may even be downloading them from diff's work!

BTW no new spins yesterday for either song. I'm going to send out some more MP3's to my local DJ's this weekend and hope that they play it in anticipation of another Beatles week. Some folks might want to consider doing that as well. Probably the AC/HAC stations would be best but if they do an Idol segment then even Pop ones.

Can someone post the Sound Scan numbers sometime next week so we can see how her sales pick up? Also, there's been talk on the AI MB that her performance was taped before the actual airing of the show. Not that it matters, but does anyone know if that's true or just more Kat bashing as usual?

Her performance was recorded just prior to the live show along with the call in segment. She did one take though from Vadia's and other reports the call in segment had mistakes etc.

Her performance was recorded live to tape so any bashing is baseless. I believe it was more for technical setup reasons and to make sure the call in segment went without any possible "incidents" if it was done live. TV and radio never do call in segments live or without at least a 7 second delay to prevent any language problems or "Howard Stern" type calls.

From what we have seen I think that Real Love will make the Digital Top 200 chart so we should have numbers on that and her CD #s are always reported by Ken Barnes in USAToday on wednesday. For comparison her #s last week for her CD were 200 sold, her lowest weekly number to date. Currently she sits at 368K US and her worldwide #s are

So between 441K and 474K as these are estimates.

I really don't want to guess other than it will be a noticeable increase I believe. Because of lack of stock for a slow selling CD otherwise it probably won't be a high as we would hope for.

Well actually yes and no. Her CD is at 369K in US sales. The estimated range for Worldwide sales is:

Katharine McPhee Katharine McPhee 442000 475150

However only US sales count towards RIAA Gold certifications.

IMO the only way KM will go Gold is if her second CD is very successful and it will get there on it's coat tales. It will be lucky if it gets to 375k by her next CD release date. But even though certs are based on "shipped" CD's with the slow sales they will not ask for a cert till it gets to probably 450-475k scanned.

Can you imagine where Katharine would be if RCA actually spent some real marketing dollars on her.
I believe,after the dynamic duo heard LL last year,they planned a huge chunk of marketing $$$$$$$$$$$$
for her war chest.The money they have spent promoting and setting up her image is huge and probobly
will grow even more.One thing i'm sure of is Katharine's warmth and style will always be around
in the Entertainment Business.When many are gone and forgotten,our Katharine's star will still be lighting
up our hearts.

I will leave you all with one Thought.Imagine the Stage on the night of "Idol Give's Back"
With a Rainbow Behind it,and Katharine singing "Some Where Over The RainBow"
Closing out the Night.
You have to know how and when to capture an electrifying "Moment In Time"
The right staging would be a Television Event to be Remembered Forever.

Not sure how I missed this but Something got another spin on the 25th from KISQ-FM, an Urban AC station in San Francisco. Urban AC? Love it!!

Here is something else interesting. Kat's version of Black Horse got a spin yesterday on WXLK a Pop station in Roanoke VA. Now that one is out of the blue. Maybe folks are using different stuff with the Neutrogena news or talking about the show or something completely random but cool anyway.

Also Real Love got another spin last night on WZLA. That oldies station she was played on a week ago. Also curious.

I really can't wait to get a real single to start tracking again.
